Summary/Objective:
Responsible for managing, supervising, and coordinating activities with food safety and sanitation, and Pest Control programs. Responsible for the management of plant cleaning, sanitation, and compliance with GMP’s, Good Safety Practices, sanitation policies and procedures.
Sanitation/Pest Control Responsibilities: Tulare Plant
· Track and budget labor and departmental supply usage expenses.
· Supervises adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices regarding sanitation procedures,
· Monitors and audits, adjusting as necessary to processing and packaging equipment cleaning.
· Conduct annual IPM assessment.
· systems/procedures to ensure optimal cleanliness.
· Schedule cleaning activities per the master sanitation schedule and frequency.
· Ensures compliance with all company and regulatory sanitation food quality and food safety standards.
· Works closely with management and production personnel on sanitation problems; recommending changes to improve sanitation policies, procedures, and cleaning effectiveness.
· Performs comprehensive sanitation audits on each unique production process to determine sanitation effectiveness.
· Direct, monitor and motivate Pest Control technicians to be efficient within the Pest Control program.
· Coordinate/schedule with facility leadership annual pesticide fogging of the facility up to 5x year as needed per Pest Control trends and monitoring activities.
· Provide continuing, up to date training to technicians to assure that our policies and programs remain in compliance with State and local requirements.
· Communicates reports/trends/issues regarding inspections, sanitation deviations, and steps taken to resolve deficiencies.
· Conducts training programs for all sanitation and Pest Control procedures and is responsible for the development and training of sanitation and Pest Control personnel, understands chemical specifications and their effectiveness/proper application for different processing/packaging equipment SSOP’s.
· Conducts scheduled sanitation validation audits including dismantling and inspecting critical processing and packaging equipment to ensure proper clean ability/sanitization.
· Responsible for the scheduling, coordination, and management of the food manufacturing sanitation crew, develops labor schedules to ensure appropriate coverage to meet labor efficiencies and production demands.
· Maintains and revises departmental procedures including the master sanitation schedule
and SSOP’s reflecting process improvements that maintain or improve pre -operational and operational hygienic conditions.
· Review and maintains sanitation documentation for Quality Assurance and regulatory review.
· Builds partnerships with production, quality, and human resources to ensure production and people goals are met.
· Inspect line after final wipe down for QC and QA swab.
· Ensure all chemicals are checked daily.
· Implement BRC and AIB Standards.
· Conduct risk assessments and internal audits for departmental process improvement.
· Complete non conformances from audits including Root Cause Analysis, corrective and preventative actions.
· Employee retraining if necessary.
· Assists with interviewing and selection of new team members.
· Manage uniform/smock rental services at each facility.
· Coordinate pickup of facility waste and recycling services.
Lost Hills and Firebaugh Hullers
Responsible for the supervision and training of the Sanitation Technicians, including but not limited to Food Safety, Employee Safety, GMPs, Chemical training, line cleaning, housekeeping, Color Code training.
Ensure documentation and recordkeeping accuracy, maintain documentation control and produce new documents as needed, and write work procedures and implement them.
Responsible for the scheduling, coordination, and management of the sanitation crew, develops labor schedules to ensure appropriate coverage to meet labor efficiencies and production demands. Review timesheets, ordering supplies and chemicals for hullers.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Supervisory Responsibilities
Train, coach & develop production sanitation and Pest Control team members.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business or Food Safety Management
Must be computer literate and be able to use programs such as Microsoft Office programs. Minimum 5 years manufacturing experience preferred.
Must be self-motivated, have a high sense of urgency, be able to problem solve complex situations and be resourceful.
BRC and AIB training required.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills, particularly where information must be conveyed in a clear and convincing way.
Bilingual (English/Spanish).
