Job Description
BASIC FUNCTION
The function of the Sales Manager is to manage and oversee the Account Managers in order to seek, contact, and negotiate with potential and current customers and attain sales for the Company.
1. Achieve or exceed the budgeted sales presented by the Director of Sales
2. Produce enough new profitable business to ensure the growth and profit goals of the Company.
3. Through the AMs, prepare all price quotations and scope statements to meet the operational specifications of the project at contract signing.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
1. The Sales Manager is selected by and reports to the Director of Sales.
2. The following report directly to the Sales Manager:

JOB REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to complete all areas outlined for this position in a satisfactory manner.
1. EDUCATION
1. Required: High school diploma or equivalent
2. Preferred: 4-year College degree in business with a major in sales or marketing
2. EXPERIENCE
1. Preferred: Prefer 2 years’ experience in sales of residential and commercial accounts, preferably in the roofing or construction industry.
3. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
1. Ability to guide, direct, and coordinate a sales department with 10 or more employees in the department.
2. Demonstrated ability to effectively run a department in an efficient manner.
3. The ability to understand the needs of business accounts through conversational interaction and converting those needs into sales.
4. Strong P.C. skills with the ability to create and use spreadsheets, keep mail merge lists, create schedules, desktop publishing, Windows, Word, Excel, etc.
5. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret industry/trade magazines.
6. Strong knowledge of the industry and trends impacting the business.
7. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
8. Ability to do routine business math calculations including computation of sales costs and quotes.
9. This position deals with assertive personalities in a highly competitive industry and will be stressful to some in making the sales calls and sales quotes.
4. WORKING CONDITIONS
1. The work for this position will be divided between a climate controlled, smoke-free office environment, with the remainder of the time spent outside and in other business locations while making sales visits with AMs on potential and current customers.
2. Work will be performed from eight to ten hours per day, five days per week. Some days will contain early or late sales meetings and meetings with customers.
AUTHORITY
The Sales Manager is delegated the authority to accomplish the duties and responsibilities of the position including, but not limited to:
1. Through AMs, contact potential customers and solicit business.
2. Assign leads and sales quotas to AMs.
3. Schedule sales activities.
4. Hire, train and discipline AMs and canvassers.
5. Track competitive information.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Develops, coordinates, and help control all sales for Bulldog Roofing to produce the targeted sales.
2. Remains visible in the business community and in the marketplace in which Bulldog Roofing operates and provides a positive and professional image for the company.
3. Maintains an accurate and up to date customer account list with detailed information and remains in constant contact with established customers to ensure their satisfaction with the products and the companies services.
4. Helps develop and implement effective and efficient sales programs. Design systems and incentives to motivate and push the sales team to ensure revenue goals are exceeded.
5. Attends trade shows, conventions, seminars, and other meetings to enhance their professional knowledge or to promote the company; becoming a product knowledge expert.
6. Keeps updated on events in the industry and marketplace in order to take advantage of new changes.
7. Attend customer appointments with the AMs to assist them with sales training, presentation skills and specialty information on unique projects.
8. Meets regularly with the sales staff to ensure proper information flow and adherence to stated goals and objectives. Holds training and development meetings to meet the needs of our team.
9. Develops systems or procedures for following through on leads, contacts, and commitments.
10. Ensures the acquisition and contracting of potential customers by maximizing the closure rates on purchased leads, self-generated leads, advertising, promotions, client referrals, and direct sales calls.
11. Ensures the accuracy and completeness of all required paperwork submitted for quotes and in Acculynx. Reviews jobs in Lead and Prospect stages in Acculynx to ensure AM’s are in constant communication with potential customers.
12. Keeps informed on competitors, selling policies, tactics, services, and prices offered.
13. All other duties and tasks as may be directed from time to time by the Director of Sales.
MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE
The Sales Manager of Bulldog Roofing shall be deemed to be performing in an acceptable manner when the following have been accomplished:
1. Meeting or exceeding sales volume goals as established by the Director of Sales.
2. Meeting or exceeding profit margins as established by the Director of Sales.
3. All Acculynx files, leads, prospects, and project information is complete and updated.
4. Meets the quotas for sales, existing customer contacts, contacts with potential customers, and other performance measures as established and discussed in the metrics accountability meeting.
5. Maintains professional appearance all times.
6. Provides a high degree of cooperation and interaction with other employees and departments.
