BASIC PURPOSE: Provide preliminary engineering, cost estimate and schedule for Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueling stations, Hydrogen fueling stations, Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations and Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) facilities to support business development activities. This includes determining cost-effective and technically sound solutions, conducting discussions with permitting agencies, gas and electric utilities, facilitating vendor and contractor quote requests, negotiating prices, and leading discussions with leadership regarding technical and financial approach. Secondary purpose includes learning about new technologies and building / maintaining relationships with both new and long-standing vendors and contractors.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assessing RFP’s from customers to determine specifications and requirements.
- Developing project scope, project cost estimation and preliminary schedule.
- Attend presentations with business developers to present station design to customers.
- Preliminary design and engineering of proposed opportunities.
- Support the sales process by clearly articulating the operational benefits and considerations with the proposed solution.
- Negotiate with utilities, equipment vendors, contractors and site host to reach acceptable technical and economic conclusions.
- Participate with development team in project handover to DBS team, account management, and operations.
- Maintain relationships with existing CNG equipment vendors and construction contractors and build new strategic relationships with Hydrogen, RNG and EV vendors and contractors.
- Regularly review the economics of recently completed projects to capture lessons learned.
- Must have the ability to travel to job sites and interact with customers.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education:
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, or Quantitative Business discipline preferred
Experience:
- 3+ years’ experience with engineering design or construction of industrial equipment or infrastructure which may include ASME, ASTM, welding and electrical codes, piping systems, structural design.
- 3+ years’ experience with basic computer operations.
