JOB FUNCTION:
Assists and supports the Safety and Training Manager by providing training and evaluations and monitoring of drivers and driving support staff. Serves as intermediary between driving staff and management. Monitors day-today activities of operators to ensure compliance with operationalrequirements for safe bus operations including compliance with corporate safety trainingprocess and practices. Completes performance observations on vehicles and drivers and conducts training individuallyand in group settings.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Conducts training sessions and reports driver skills and knowledge to management.
2. Investigates accidents, incidents, disputes, and disturbances as assigned, in accordancewith policy, and in conjunction with involved authorities.
3. Respond to and investigate accidents/incidents; document all required information, andprocess all necessary reports and paperwork.
4. Observes driving staff and routinely conduct performance evaluations of drivers.
5. Assists in auditing service, routes and road conditions and recommends alternate routesto dispatch as appropriate.
6. Provides training for new driver trainees.
7. Assists and/or conducts Safety and Training Meetings.
8. Trains operators in use of time, checks and instructs periodically on proper revenue,transfers and farebox data collection, and recommends training or retraining, asappropriate to ensure compliance with safety policies.
9. Inspect vehicles frequently for safety and compliance and may take them in for repairs.
10. Ensures bus driver fitness for duty and are responsible to ensure that buses are cleaninside and outside
11. Writes reports regarding service disruptions, security and safety incidents and operatorperformance/behavior in accordance with policies and procedures. Assists operatorswhere needed in filing of reports.
12. Assists in the processing and follow up of customer service complaints and requests.
13. Ensures a positive work environment for operators by providing coaching, mentoring andassists in training to promote high employee motivation and morale and commitment tocompany values and excellence in customer service.
14. Assists in supervising compliance with policies and /or processes by action and speech;discusses any breech of policy and procedure noted with the Safety and TrainingManager.
15. Enforce Safety rules and regulations.
16. Performs other duties as assigned.
