We proudly serve telecommunications companies, electric utility companies, education and healthcare organizations using the most efficient network technology available. We are currently looking for a FT Safety & Training Manager.
Job Summary/Objective
The Safety and Training Manager is responsible for overseeing safety and training programs to ensure compliance with company, customer, state, and federal safety policies and regulations. Responsibilities include managing and mentoring the safety technician(s), administering various training requirements across all departments as well as ensuring the requirements of the Apprenticeship Program are met. This position is responsible for conducting random safety inspections, managing and completing documentation for accident /incident investigation and follow up actions. The Safety and Training Manager is responsible for performing jobsite roll-ups and recommending corrective action. Maintenance and record keeping of safety and training equipment inventory and training activity are requirements of the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage worker compensation issues such as claims, potential claims and triage coordination.
- Manage OSHA logs, investigations, and partnerships.
- Manage safety consultations.
- Participate in Safety Program audits.
- Manage loss control efforts with management and the insurance carrier.
- Implement and manage customer safety compliance, whether they are direct or through third parties such as ISNET or Avetta.
- Ensure that all investigations of accidents, incidents and near misses occur in a timely manner.
- Identify root causes, determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future and present them to the Safety Committee for final review.
- Randomly perform Field Safety Rollups at jobsites and review inspections performed by safety techs or others designated to do so.
- Evaluate and ensure that hierarchy of controls are properly implemented to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes or conditions.
- Execute safety stand downs for activities that create an imminent danger to worker health or safety. Follow up, to ensure that the proper resolution, training and documentation is complete.
- Work with field technicians to ensure they are properly trained for their job duties.
- Oversee and maintain documentation of all company craft and safety training and ensure regulatory compliance and workforce development.
- Oversee, upkeep and maintain documentation and compliance of Celerity's Apprenticeship Program including maintenance of the PA Department of Labor's RAPIDS System.
- Coordinate with third party training providers to set up on-site training courses.
- Ensure that company curriculums are properly executed and completed.
- Present safety portion of new hire orientations providing an extended safety orientation class that promotes the company's safety culture.
- Assist in training field technicians in safety regulations and practices.
- Review and approve daily safety paperwork from jobsites in conjunction with Safety Technician.
- Ensure proper inventory and required inspection of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and other safety equipment is completed in accordance with applicable standards.
- Maintain all required safety records and documentation.
- Serve on the Safety Committee and ensure that the Safety Committee follows company, federal and state regulations.
- Maintain the safety committee standing with the PA Department of Labor and Industry. (PATHS)
- Collaborate with leadership to ensure a healthy safety culture.
- Research and recommend technology and equipment to safely improve jobsite efficiency.
- Manage the company safe driver program.
- Oversee competent person program.
- Maintain and audit company DOT Driver Files.
- Manage loss control efforts with management and the insurance carrier.
- Other related duties as needed.
Required Education and Experience
- Degree in Health and Safety or Safety certification (CSP) preferred. Relevant education and experience will be considered.
- At least four years of experience in a construction, or utility environment preferred, however manufacturing environment experience will also be considered.
- Expertise/experience with Microsoft applications, including 365, SharePoint, and Teams
- Familiarity with and ability to interpret governmental regulations and guidelines (CDC, OSHA, DOT)
- OSHA 500 a plus.
- Previous experience with State or Federal Approved Apprenticeship Programs preferred.
Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time salaried position based on 40 hours per week. Schedule flexibility is needed to follow crew schedules outside of regular daytime hours which will include some overnight hours.
Travel
This position requires an average of 40-60% travel to company jobsites.
