POSITION SUMMARY:
The Safety and Training Specialist works under the direction of Management to develop, implement and ensure the success of training and safety programs. This position implements operational solutions to educate employees, enhance performance and ensure regulatory compliance. The Safety and Training Specialist monitors programs for effectiveness and takes corrective actions for underperforming conditions.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Plan, develop, organize, facilitate, and administer safety and training programs within the company.
- Perform safety and compliance evaluations and make appropriate recommendations to address deficiencies.
3. Drive training and safety initiatives.
4. Develop/mentor trainers and act as a coach for all involved in training activities.
5. Facilitate train-the-trainer sessions for in-house trainers.
6. Schedule and Coordinate safety and training activities.
7. Maintain exceptional communication with trainees, trainers and managers involved in the training process.
8. Track and report training progress and give appropriate feedback.
9. Track employee training and maintain accurate training records for both individual and group training activities.
10. Audit trainee progress and recommend pay step progression.
11. Develop educational aids and material.
12. Manage development of safety programs and safety education to meet company expectations.
13. Verify that employees consistently follow safety protocols and perform audits.
14. Notify manufacturing leadership/staff of regulatory changes and help develop solutions to ensure compliance.
15. May lead or coordinate accident investigations and ensure investigation process is followed and complete. Monitors process changes or corrective actions through completion.
16. In collaboration with Engineering, will evaluate new equipment for safety concerns and assure corrective measures are complete before equipment is placed into production.
17. Collaborate with senior management to address requests, audits, or compliance inquiries from government agencies like OSHA and DHEC.
18. Participate in Quality Systems internal audits as scheduled.
19. Support/participate in the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities, including some coordination with selected charitable organizations within the local area.
20. Complement the desired culture and philosophies of the Company.

KNOWLEDGE, BACKGROUND, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
· Prefer Associate Degree in Manufacturing or Engineering (3+ years of direct leadership of OHSA and governmental regulatory programs considered equivalent)
· Prefer experience in a manufacturing setting as Coordinator of Safety and/or Training program Administration.
· Communication proficiency required with excellent listening skills and ability to appropriately discuss differing viewpoints.
· Must be Proficient in Microsoft Office suite with emphasis on PowerPoint and Excel.
· Knowledge of manufacturing processes with ability to analyze work activities into individual specific tasks required.
· Must be autonomous and able to independently research concerns and draw correct conclusions; thorough “big picture” thinker with excellent ability to analyze and solve problems.
· Must be well organized, including ability to manage files and documents, and able to manage multiple priorities while adapting to changing situations.
· Must possess and demonstrate excellent technical writing and oral presentation skills.
PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
· Will work between a typical office setting and a manufacturing area with limited environmental control.
· Exposed to dust, chemicals, and high noise levels. Wear PPE as required.
· Requires working on concrete surfaces as well as occasional work on elevated surfaces.
· Requires frequent standing and occasional climbing.
· Must commute between 3 Anderson area facilities on a frequent basis.
· Normal schedule is daytime Monday through Friday, although start and end times must be flexible.
· Expected to work non-daytime schedule periodically to provide on-shift follow-up and training support.
