Form of workYork Technical College, a member of the South Carolina Technical and Comprehensive Education System, is a public, two-year institution of higher education that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. Through maximizing student success, the College seeks to contribute to the economic growth and development of York, Lancaster, and Chester counties and of the State.
The Distance Education Specialist performs the following functions:
- Instruct online training courses for faculty to enhance their online instructional skills while modeling best practices for excellence in the online classroom.
- Lead virtual and/or in-person workshops and training sessions on instructional tools, methodologies, and online courses.
- Plan and organize training opportunities and workshops; maintain participant records.
- Conducts reviews of online courses using established quality standards.
- Research licensure requirements for NC-SARA compliance. Assembles licensure information into searchable files, spreadsheets, or databases, and ensures easy-to-read documents are shared appropriately.
- A Master's Degree and at least two years' experience in online teaching or training with demonstrated knowledge related to best practices in online courses
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, exceptional organizational skills, and evidence of excellence in instructional methodologies
- Must be comfortable with delivering training and workshops virtually and in-person
- Demonstrates excellent communication and organization skills, and excellence in online teaching or training and development of others
- Experienced with assessment of training participants and grading rubrics; Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and a learning management system (e.g. Blackboard, Canvas, D2L)
- Experience with video conferencing software such as Zoom
- Must be able to work independently with attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Must be able to work professionally and ethically with others either virtually or in person.
