Job Summary:
The Safety Specialist promotes health, wellness and safety in our low threshold services for adults with histories of homelessness, most of whom are impacted by substance use and misuse, co-occurring mental health challenges, and complex health conditions. The Safety Specialist directly supports Bay Cove's mission by working on behalf of persons served, staff, and all community stakeholders in a proactive and professional manner. This staff member is critical to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for persons who live in our permanent housing programs and whose work reflects a commitment to health, racial and housing equity.
By providing respectful and responsive supports and by working collaboratively with all stakeholder, this staff member implements hare reduction and trauma informed supports to pesos who have often been marginalized and stigmatized by others. The Safety Specialist brings great value to our tenants and team members by offering practical assistance in a calm, positive, and respectful manner. In such environments, people can work to build or rebuild their lives, and enjoy the benefits of a safe and affordable home. The Safety Specialist severs as a community diplomat and represents the CCC and Bay Cove as a good neighbor and responsive community partner.
This is a non-except position.
Essential Functions of Position:
- Welcomes and logs in all guests, visitors, and community partners.
- the scene. From the front desk, monitors cameras with all staff to support tenants' needs. Ensures that health and safety systems (security camera, Automated External Defibrillator, door alarms, smoke detectors in common kitchens, First Aid kits, CPR masks, Narcan, fentanyl test strips, etc.) are all in good supply and in working order.
- Demonstrates dependability and reliability.
- Must be able to work all shifts including weekend and holidays as scheduled.
- Attends all required training.
- Communicates in real-time with Program Director and staff at the CCC.
- Maintains privacy and confidentiality of tenants' personal and private health conditions in accordance with state and federal law.
- All other duties as requested by the Program Director.
Requirements for the position:
- High School diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to work during inclement weather.
- Must be able to walk up and down stairs and throughout all common areas and bathrooms in the building as scheduled by Program Director
- Is able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. as needed.
