Job Summary: As a Health and Safety Specialist at DreamFields, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the overall well-being of our employees by implementing and maintaining effective Health and Safety programs. You will be responsible for identifying and mitigating potential risks, conducting regular inspections, and fostering a culture of safety within the organization. The successful candidate will collaborate with various departments to develop and implement policies and procedures that comply with relevant regulations and industry best practices.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular risk assessments and inspections to identify potential hazards in the workplace.
  • Develop, implement, and update Health and Safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate with department heads and employees to raise awareness and promote a culture of safety.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and provide recommendations for corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Coordinate and conduct safety training programs for employees, addressing specific needs identified through risk assessments.
  • Stay informed about changes in Health and Safety legislation and industry best practices, and update policies accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, inspections, and training sessions.
  • Participate in emergency response planning and drills.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to existing safety programs to enhance effectiveness.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies and represent the company during inspections and audits.
  • Track and record safety KPIs such as safety improvements. Follow up to make sure identified safety improvements move to completion.
  • Facilitates safety committee meetings and other employee engagement initiatives like safety champion of the month.
  • First responder with security as needed.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Professional certification in Health and Safety (e.g., Certified Safety Professional, Occupational Health and Safety Technician) is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Health and Safety Specialist or in a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and best practices.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and assess potential risks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficient in using safety management software and tools.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Education and Experience:

  • HS Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field preferred.
  • OSHA certification is required.
  • Proven experience in Health and Safety roles within a manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with safety management systems and risk assessment processes.
  • Experience with the Plan-Do-Act-Check (PDAC) cycle as a means of solving problems and managing change/improvement of processes and products - preferred.
