The Safety Specialist is responsible for the oversight of safety on a designated project site and will work with the project team to proactively plan safety into the day-to-day operations and tasks.
Your Role
- Apply knowledge of construction worksite safety practices and procedures
- Inspect, correct and provide education on safety deficiencies as they occur
- Identify and correct problems before they become hazards and report results to designated company representatives
- Apply federal and state-specific health and safety regulations and interpret and apply these regulations
- Ensure that Project Executives, Project Managers, Superintendents, and others are abreast of all OSHA regulations and the consequences of violating these regulations
- Verify that subcontractors are adhering to the Site Safety Management Plan, OSHA and all other regulations
- Ensure familiarity with Hazardous Communications, Confined Space, Air Monitoring, Job Safety Analysis and Health and Safety Plans
- Train employees on health and safety related policies, procedures, and regulations

Work Environment/Physical Demands
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50-60lbs
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time, and safely maneuver around the nearby presence of various construction equipment and vehicles, on an active construction site
- Prepared to regularly encounter moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and a variety of outside weather conditions
- Able to climb temporary or permanent stairs, and ladders
- Able to bend, squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, balance and stoop, reach on a regular basis
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
