We are seeking a highly motivated and detail oriented Safety Specialist to coordinate implement health and safety, and environmental activities. In this role you are responsible for coordinating across multiple departments conducting inspections, training employees, and managing documentation related to HSE activities.
Responsibilities:
- Conducting risk assessments, hazard analyses, and safety inspections.
- Developing and delivering HSE training programs for employees.
- Investigating workplace incidents and near misses.
- Maintaining records and documentation related to HSE activities.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of HSE policies and procedures.
- Coordinating emergency response plans and drills.
- Supporting compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
Successful Results:
- Compliance Management: Ensuring Locke facilities are informed of updates, how it applies to operations and complies with all relevant HSE regulations.
- Safety Training Programs: Implementing robust safety training programs that cultivate a strong safety culture, foster heightened employee engagement, and elevate awareness, resulting in a notable decrease in incidents and a significant uptick in incident reporting.
- Investigating Incidents: Facilitate inclusive engagement of key stakeholders to pinpoint root causes, swiftly implementing responsive corrective measures and fostering transparent communication across all locations, backed by thorough documentation.
- Documentation: Ensure seamless accessibility to HSE documentation, promptly reported, accurately filed in a standardized format, and subjected to quarterly audits for consistency and compliance.
- Policy Development and Assessment: Guarantee clarity and accessibility in documenting safety policies, effectively communicating them to all stakeholders. This proactive approach not only influences and engages our workforce but also empowers them to take decisive actions, ensuring their safe return home every single day.
- Emergency Response: Comprehensive plans designed to address various scenarios, ensuring that every individual is equipped with clear procedures and understands their respective responsibilities.
- Risk Assessment: Regular quarterly reviews conducted with Plant Management and Safety committees to strategically prioritize risks and collaboratively develop effective strategies for their mitigation or elimination
- Certification in occupational health and safety preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in safety, preferably in a multi-location setting.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices applicable to the industry.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software/tools.
