SalaryMartin Foods has a need for a full-time multi-craft maintenance mechanic to join our team in Houston, TX. Our facility produces various meat products for a multitude of restaurants throughout our region. We are seeking a mechanic experienced in working within a manufacturing environment repairing, maintaining, and installing all types of food production equipment and machinery, as well as general facilities maintenance.
Organizational Relationships
Reports to: Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Director.
Internal Contacts: Indirect relationships with all Plant, Warehouse, and Management.
Responsibilities Include:
- Provides support to the production staff to minimize downtime and maintain high safety and quality standards.
- Perform scheduled equipment Preventive Maintenance (PM) Program.
- Troubleshoot and repair all process equipment as safely, quickly and efficiently as possible.
- Initiates purchase order for equipment and facility needs.
- To work in a manner which is safe, clean, and well organized.
A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a mechanic in a production/manufacturing environment, food industry is preferred.
- Well versed in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment and systems.
- Experience in the use of basic hand tools, electrical meters, grinding equipment, drill press and band saws.
- Refrigeration and HVAC experience is a definite plus.
- Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as mechanical drawings, schematics, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Must be able to perform basic math.
- Need to also have the ability to communicate effectively with employees in the organization.
- Welding (ARC, TIG, MIG).
