Tuesday through Friday 11:30am - 8:00pm Saturday's 8:00am - 4:30pm
Covering Edison and all Northern NJ Locations, from Hudson county to Mahwah and areas in between.
Mileage provided.
Job Summary
The Remote Operations Command Centers (ROCC) Technical Assistant will provide assistance to MRI Steering Technologist, Radiologists and/or administrative staff to provide optimal MRI safety and patient care. The ROCC Technical Assistant will convey patient history to the MRI Technologist for accurate MRI safety, assist MRI Technologists to ensure MRI safety, coil positioning, patient screening and/or history and patient observation during exams. Clerical duties include schedule maintenance, exam verification, patient medical records, routing documents and other tasks as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Takes accurate patient medical history with MRI safety and record information into patients' medical chart and/or electronic medical records system; for patient flow and accurate encounter documentation.
  • Accurately maintains and records patient communication during exams.
  • Stocks and maintain all supply levels for assigned area; order and restock following site guidelines / protocols.
  • Support technologists with procedures as needed; which includes the set-up of coils, schedule maintenance, and/or clean-up of MRI suite and other duties as assigned.
  • Greets patients with courtesy and respect; introduces self; describes procedures; puts patients at ease.
  • May administer oral contrast to patients and provides instructions as needed under direction of technologist.
  • Comply with all HIPAA guidelines, confidently guidelines, and safety guidelines for a laboratory / clinical environment. Ensures use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and exercise universal precautions when dealing with all patients and exams.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and compliant MRI control room space. Decontaminate equipment, coils, and exam / control room using the designated products and procedures.
  • Responds to requests and questions efficiently, effectively and in a positive fashion.
  • Handles upset or irate individuals professionally and courteously.
  • Remains aware of appointment delays and changes to schedules and regularly communicates to front desk team and/or Site Management.
  • May burns CDs as indicated.
  • Reports any equipment malfunctions to MRI Steering Technologist and Site Manager.
  • Assists in the performance of QC including daily visual checklist and weekly QC.
  • Accurately and correctly positions patients for exams, to include placement of coils.
  • Assist with completion of all patient screening documents and scans them in appropriately.
  • Brings patients back to dressing booths and provides proper gowning directions.
  • Assists with screening patients for safe entrance into the MR scan room.
  • Assists with lifting and transferring physically challenged patients to and from exam tables
  • May remove and properly dispose of IV catheters, bandages and puncture site.
  • Provides any discharge instructions in conjunction with the MRI Steering Technologist.
  • Communicates effectively with the MRI Steering Technologist.
  • Attend and participate in meetings, seminars and training as required.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year experience in medical setting
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Completion of approved MR Technologist Assistant program, including hands-on clinical training
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, public relations and verbal and written communication
  • Must be very detail oriented
  • Must be able to assist in lifting patients onto table
  • Certified Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant Designations - Preferred
  • Strong computer skills
  • Effective time management skills

  • Completes job responsibilities in a quality and timely manner.

Physical Demands
This position often requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting reaching with hands and arms, using hands and fingers, handling or palpating, speaking, listening, and high level of cognition. Also, must be able to lift over 50 pounds, occasionally. All employees are to assist and participate as members of a lift assistance team (for special accommodation patients or any patient requiring assistance onto a table or equipment placement) to initiate or complete an exam or procedure.
Working Environment
Outpatient medical office setting with low to moderate noise level.

Pay Range
$21 - $24 / hour
