The Sumner Regional Medical Center Nurse Residency is a 12 month program designed to assist the new grad RN as they navigate their first year going from the classroom into nursing practice. Our program consists of monthly classes, observation days, and a mentorship program that help you feel heard and supported along the way. We also have opportunities to hire you on right after graduation as a Graduate Nurse to get your career started faster!
Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment. Documents patient care given. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family. Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs. Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances. Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient. Provides telemetry monitoring as necessary.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Nursing required
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
- RN License in the State of TN or Multi-State Registered Nurse licensure
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required to be current upon hire
