POSITION SUMMARY

A Risk Management Specialist is responsible for supporting the Risk Management function within an organization. This role involves various tasks related to risk assessment, mitigation, insurance management, and compliance. The Risk Management Specialist assists in protecting the organization from potential risks and ensuring its financial stability.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS; but not limited to:

Risk Assessment:

  • Assist in identifying and assessing potential risks to the organization, including financial, operational, strategic, and compliance risks.
  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate risk factors, assess their potential impact, and assist in developing risk profiles.

Risk Mitigation:

  • Support the development and implementation of Risk Management policies, procedures, and controls to minimize the organization's exposure to risks.
  • Collaborate with the Risk Management team and other departments to implement risk mitigation strategies.

Insurance Management:

  • Assist in evaluating the organization's insurance needs and support insurance procurement activities.
  • Review insurance policies to ensure compliance with coverage requirements and assist with insurance contract negotiations.

Claims Support:

  • Provide support in the administration and management of commercial liability claims, including data gathering, documentation, and coordination with relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist with the investigation of incidents and claims and work with the Risk Management team to facilitate resolution.

Data Analysis:

  • Collect, analyze, and maintain data related to incidents, claims, and Risk Management programs to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Utilize Risk Management software and tools to generate reports and key risk indicators.

Compliance Assistance:

  • Assist in ensuring the organization's compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards in the context of Risk Management.
  • Support the preparation of compliance reports for management and regulatory authorities.

Training and Awareness:

  • Assist in developing and delivering training sessions to educate employees on Risk Management practices and promote a risk-aware culture.

Vendor and Contract Review:

  • Support the evaluation of risks associated with third-party vendors, contractors, and business partners by conducting risk assessments and due diligence.

Administrative Tasks:

  • Perform administrative duties related to Risk Management, including document management, record-keeping, and coordination of meetings and activities.

Continuous Learning:

  • Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in Risk Management to contribute to the development and enhancement of Risk Management strategies.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Basic knowledge of insurance products and contract management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using Risk Management software and tools.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong ethical and moral judgment.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, business, finance, or a related field (relevant certifications or coursework may be advantageous).
  • 3-5 years of experience in Risk Management or related areas.
