Summary:

Responsible for developing, communicating and implementing Merchant Services risk and Underwriting policies that align with the businesses objectives, as well as ensuring compliance with regulations as well as internal governance and policies. Also responsible for the day-to-day management of underwriting, risk and compliance teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop, define, communicate, and implement underwriting policies, strategies and vision in line with the businesses short and long-term strategic objectives with respect to loss ratios, underwriting service level agreements (SLAs) and portfolio performance, while ensuring Card Brand and regulatory compliance by the team.
• Recruit, hire, train, and manage underwriting, risk and compliance teams.
• Provide guidance and training to underwriting and risk teams on policy issues, exceptions, risk ratings, deal structuring, appropriate reserve/hold limits and other key provisions.
• Manage the activities of team to assure timely and accurate completion of responsibilities and compliance with corporate objectives and standards.
• Define Key Performance Objectives and Indicators for each team member, report them monthly and manage their performance to those objectives.
• Act as the liaison with Regulators, Auditors, Major Customers and Sales relationships.
• Always have a strong focus on continuous improvement in order to optimize all functions.
• Assist with projects, delegated tasks and participate in committees as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Minimum of 10+ years of with payment processing, restricted and high-risk merchant industries, card brand rules, and banking/regulatory requirements.
• Minimum 5 years of experience managing a team, as well as the ability to motivate and manage a high-performance team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
• Must be familiar with 3rd party tools like Experian, G2, Lexis Nexis, GIACT, etc.
• Experience with OFAC, AML, KYC, BSA regulatory requirements.
• Superior organizational skills and ability to multitask and juggle complex tasks efficiently within a fast-paced environment.
• Able to work across all departments with ease, as well as work independently.
• Compliance knowledge of financial institutions, etc.
• Thorough knowledge of various software programs including Word and Excel, Salesforce, and the ability to quickly learn additional systems/software.
• A strong preference for knowledge of First Data/Fiserv Underwriting and Risk processes and systems.
• Proficiency in project management tools and software, contract negotiations and excellent presentation skills.

Compensation Range:

The compensation range represents the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. Colleagues in this position are also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan.
