Under general supervision of the ROW Crew Leader and at times the Streets Supervisor. Performs a variety of tasks associated with clearing brush, semi-skilled and skilled maintenance work, and operates a variety of equipment in the operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of street and gutters.
Duties and Responsibilities
Maintenance/Repair Work
• Maintains and cleans streets and gutters.
• Cuts, week eats, and removes litter, trees, brush and other debris in the city Right of Way
• Accomplishes minor repairs as required and directed.
• Collects and disposes of trash and/or debris as directed.
• Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and informs defects or needed repairs to supervisor.
• Ensures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools after use.
• Cleans around work area.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of and skill in operating power tools.
• Knowledge of the traffic laws, ordinances and rules involved in the operation of motor vehicles.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and applicable safety precautions in general construction and maintenance operations, particularly as these requirements relate to work around construction equipment and traffic control around the work site (flagmen, barricades, cones, signs, etc.)
• Ability to operate various types of equipment normally used in the Right of Way department (mowers. Weed eaters, chainsaws, etc.)
• Ability to comprehend and execute written and oral instructions.
• Mechanical abilities to meet the requirements of the job.
• Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with other employees.
• Knowledge of geography of the city, including the locations of streets or the ability to acquire this knowledge rapidly.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently working near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibrations. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Qualifications
• Prefer graduation from a standard senior high school or GED equivalent.
• Experience in different types of lawn care equipment (zero turn mowers, weed eaters, chainsaws etc.)
• Possess at least a valid Texas Class B Driver's License
• Willing to work on-call and overtime hours and maintain regular attendance on the job.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, and the public
