NYFS is excited to be launching our Restoring Power Programming: Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Advocacy and Therapy programs that will bring needed resources to survivors and provide support for other agencies in the community.
NYFS is actively recruiting for a youth focused position that will focus on supporting survivors through individual and group therapy services. This position is fully grant funded & multifaceted with time built in for program development and outreach, resulting in greater flexibility, a smaller caseload to mitigate secondary traumatic stress while working with trauma survivors. Responsibilities:
- Complete Diagnostic Assessments using trauma-responsive, culturally responsive, and age-appropriate assessment tools, resulting in clinical diagnosis.
- Develop individualized treatment plans which define plan of services and intervention; update treatment plans according to regulatory requirements; and provide optimum client care.
- Serve a client base of primarily youth witnesses or survivors of DV or Sexual Violence; 85% of NYFS clients are between 4 and 26 years of age.
- Facilitate psychotherapy/psychoeducation groups for youth and adolescents who have witnessed or experienced violence.
- Participate in on going program development meetings within DV/SA program
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Involve client caregivers in assessment and treatment planning process, and in care when indicated.
- Independently provide individual therapy as needed to address client treatment needs and provide crisis intervention services as appropriate.
- Complete documentation and reporting requirements in a timely manner in accordance with NYFS guidelines, all relevant HIPAA and DHS guidelines, and OJP grant funding requirements.
- Provide culturally responsive, trauma-responsive, community-based, and developmentally appropriate care.
- Actively contribute to weekly case consultation, staff meetings, and agency and community events as assigned.
- Abide by all professional ethical standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s or PhD in Social Work, Psychology, Professional Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy.
- Is on track towards independent clinical licensure, meeting professional eligibility requirements (for example, social workers need to have LGSW).
Preferred Qualifications:
- LICSW, LMFT, LP or LPCC
- Demonstrated experience in several of the following areas preferred:
- Knowledge of child sexual abuse, Domestic Violence, family dynamics, child development.
- Experience working with survivors of abuse and or clients in crisis
- Experience working with child protection, law enforcement, court systems, and related community services.
- Experience facilitating psychotherapy groups
- Prefer an experienced clinician able to work with children ages 4 and older, adolescents, adults, couples and families.
- Training and experience in treatment of individuals who have experienced trauma.
- Art therapy, Play Therapy, Couple/Family Therapy, or Group Therapy training or interest.
- Speaks Spanish, Hmong, Karen, or Somali fluently
- Clinical Supervision experience or interest; enthusiasm about training interns.
- Knowledge of health conditions and common comorbidities
- Credentialed with major insurances
- Experience with Procentive a plus

Salary Range: $51,100 to $63,900 per year based on education, training and/or experience.
