Domestic Violence Advocate - Weekends

WEEKENDS, HOLIDAYS, and call-off coverage.

Domestic Violence Project, Inc. is seeking a part-time Residential Advocate who creates and maintains a safe, caring and respectful environment for survivors of Domestic Violence, sexual assault, and dating violence. Promotes hope and empowerment while responsible for the safety and well-being of residents.

Operate shelter during scheduled shift:

• Respond to incoming hotline calls, provide crisis intervention, safety planning, perform initial shelter assessment, and provide appropriate referrals.
• Conduct intake of new residents, orient new residents to shelter, and facilitate departure interviews with residents.
• Help residents adjust to group living while protecting their privacy and maintaining professional boundaries.
• Mediate conflict among shelter residents.
• Monitor compliance with all safety guidelines for shelter; check security equipment, doors and windows nightly; respond swiftly and accurately to alarms and safety concerns; initiate emergency protocol, as needed.
• Provide care for children in residence.
• Perform routine shelter maintenance, cleaning tasks, and laundry,
• Follow established chain of command to report unusual activity and incidents.
• Document client progress and shelter activities thoroughly, accurately, and in a timely manner as required by DVPI and its funders.
• Maintain thorough, accurate, and timely client case notes in accordance with DVPI standards.
• Provide transportation for residents, as needed.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 16 – 24 per week
