The Counselor/Advocate: Residential (3rd Shift and Overnight Weekends) is responsible for providing safety, counseling and other related services to Emergency Shelter and Bridge Housing clients; and crisis and supportive counseling services to Hotline victims of domestic violence.
Responsibilities include: delivering Shelter and hotline services for Carbon and Luzerne Counties - crisis intervention, intake, supportive options, counseling, safety planning, information and referral, advocacy with other community resources; facilitating regular house meetings and support groups for Shelter guests; ensuring that clients are abiding by house rules; performing regular living area checks; providing counseling on life skills, social relationships and conflict resolution.
A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; with experience working with domestic violence, social services or social work is required. A PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA Criminal Background Check and FBI Criminal Background check are required.
Full-time position (35 hours/week). 3rd Shift. Weekends and holidays required. On-call back-up also required.
