Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Factory Zero on a full-time basis.
The Role:
The RESS Battery Test Engineer, will oversee the manufacturing processes and equipment for RESS Battery Assembly. Work is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of GMS, focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). The selected candidate will be required to rotate between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift (every 3 months).
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
Develop and implement sufficiency plans and continuous improvement activities to meet specific uptime, tool cost, quality, and maintainability objectives
Responsible for all documentation of the process including Process Control Plans, PFMEAs, and other equipment documentation including standardized work
Work with and support Maintenance activities, resolving equipment issues resulting in downtime of the equipment, tooling, and gages
Implement projects including estimating, project budget management and forecasting, development of timelines and equipment qualification
Manage process-related projects including installation of new or replacement equipment, continuous improvement initiatives, and periodic repair and refurbishment
Investigate conveyor and equipment problems to provide technical feedback for problem resolution
Occasionally lead maintenance team and supervise skilled trades to cover maintenance supervisor absence
Support TIP (throughput improvement process), GMS (global manufacturing systems) and BIQ4 (built in quality) initiatives.
Apply statistical methods for continuous improvement of plant process systems
Enforce safe work practices as the highest priority and implement objectives for improved ergonomics, Health/safety, and housekeeping
Maintain compliance with all Process Control Plans and Tool and Equipment bulletins relevant to all RESS Battery Assembly Equipment and Processes
Additional Description
Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):
3 years of manufacturing experience
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering (or equivalent experience)
Working knowledge of all safety absolutes and policies (i.e. lockout, ESWP, etc.)
Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical concepts involving machine designs and process requirements involved in the manufacturing process
Proven ability in project management skills and ability to teach others
Ability to do root cause analysis
Experience with problem solving and troubleshooting test and product issues
Testing experience
Electrical background/foundation
Ability to rotate shifts (3 month rotation)
Ability to work overtime as needed
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
5+ years of manufacturing experience
Master's Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or similar
Familiar with Error Proofing Equipment (EPP Preferred)
Knowledge of GMS principles
Battery experience
Experience collecting and using data to root cause problems
Experience working as a Controls Engineer or Electrical Engineer
