FHA POSITION DESCRIPTION – Resident Service Coordinator

TITLE: Resident Service Coordinator

CATEGORY: Salary based upon35Hour Work Week

BENEFITS: Health, Retirement,Vacation, Sick and Personal Time

WAGE RATE: Starting at $27.48 per hour, $50,013.60 Annually

PROBATION PERIOD: Six Months from Date of Hire, (Can be Continued if Mgt. Directs)

Fair Labor Standards Act: Non-Exempt (Subject to Change if Required by Law)

Position Summary: The RSC develops and implements supportive service programming in collaboration with tenant associations, residents, management, and local community service providers when required. Provide ongoing outreach services to identify individuals who would benefit from services, recruit volunteers, and identify program and service gaps. Act as a liaison to local human service providers and represent the FHA on various task forces and community groups and coordinate the delivery of services with local human service providers. Assist with securing additional program funds and grants. The RSC can also provide outreach to economic self-sufficiency programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Provides case management expertise to include but not limited to assessments, supportive counseling, linking to community resources, monitoring progress, collaboration with other providers, and care coordination.

2. Maintains information in each client’s tenant’s folder to include demographics, assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.

3. Assists with necessary outreach and engagement activities to include clients and their families, community providers, and other stake holders.

4. Works with community services providers, and oversight entities to provide good customer service, ensure responsiveness of FHA client supportive services, and achieve high rates of housing stability.

5. Identifies individual tenant services needs through ongoing outreach, engagement, screening and assessment activities.

6. Maintains sufficient contact with clients and voucher holders served to ensure engagement with tenant services; identifies emerging needs and promotes goal attainment.

7. Assists clients with securing and maintaining, employment, entitlements and benefits through income and disability support resources.

8. Serves a key role in supporting clients and overseeing and/or collaborating with volunteer initiatives as well as other cross-departmental needs in order to achieve overall success of the organization; identifies improvement opportunities and solutions impacting organization success.

9. Serves as key team representative, attending and participating in meetings, building relationships for improved tenant services, and supporting volunteerism.

10. Maintains, prepares and provides efficient reporting; may present and explain data and expertise to any level of staff, board, or community.

11. Collaborates with other departments and outside partners effectively ensuring team- oriented tenant-centered focus as well as creating a safe and secure environment for tenants, staff, and visitors.

12. Implement and maintain Economic and Family Self Sufficiency Programs

REPORTING & SUPERVISOR RELATIONSHIP: RSCs reporting requirements depend primarily which program is their primary assignment. This could include public housing or voucher housing programs. At times, RSCs will assist in programs that are not their primary assigned area.

ASSIGNED FHA SECTION: Operations Sector in Department of Resident and Community Services.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess the ability to walk and traverse rental units, hallways and offices and walk up and down stairs and lift and/move up to 25 pounds. The employee must be able to sit, stand, walk, kneel, stoop, and crouch. Specific vision requirements include close and distance vision. Position requires the ability to communicate with tenants, applicants, and staff.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & ABILITIES

1. Bachelor’s degree in human services and one year of experience in the field of direct services with adults and families with low-income, physical disabilities, behavioral health, and developmental disorders, and/or history of homelessness and incarcerations; or equivalent, training, education and/or experience.

2. Knowledge of appropriate community resources especially entitlement and housing resources

3. Knowledge of mental illness, substance abuse disorders, community resources, medication management, and recovery concepts

4. Requires high level of organization skills, including attention to detail, planning, prioritizing, multi-tasking, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

5. Requires excellent communication skills including verbal, written, presentation and listening.

6. Must exhibit proven success working with change management and culture shifts, exhibiting day-to-day flexibility in handling multiple priorities and organization initiatives, maintaining accountability for achieving improved performance metrics.

7. Must demonstrate proven ability to collaborate effectively with volunteers, all levels of staff and key stakeholders throughout the organization, community and partner organizations.

8. Must possess excellent computer skills including use of Microsoft Office

9. Must possess a high level of professionalism and must have proven experience successfully demonstrating the ability to maintain strict confidentiality as well as maintain a positive, collaborative, and supportive attitude.

10. Successfully pass a drug test, physical exam, CORI and employment background check

Must maintain confidentiality of all programs and work relate duties.

English-Spanish Bilingual preferred

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook required.

The RSC position requires an ability to work in a complex and nontraditional human service setting with a diverse population. A combination of education and experience that results in knowledge of the human service system and experience working with children and families, persons with disabilities, and the elderly is essential.

Pay: $27.48 per hour
