Work Arrangement
Hybrid - This role requires the employee to be onsite an average of three days per week.
The Role
As a valued Researcher with the Research and Development team here at GM, you will innovate through next-gen ideas, suggest new project areas, and establish technical plans. Conduct research and/or experiments to collect required data and validate research ideas in developing next-gen Battery Technology. Write timely and high-quality research reports, external publications, and records of invention to detail new insights and research results in your area of research.
You are an integral member of GM’s battery research team developing next generation lithium-ion battery technologies for electric vehicle applications. You'll need to utilize your skills in chemistry , battery materials development and manufacturing , and demonstrate knowledge and expertise in project management principles.
What You Will Do
Investigate next generation battery technologies including advanced electrode manufacturing and electrolytes, identify technical opportunities , and generate new concepts to lead innovation
Drive internal and external collaborations
Maintain awareness of the state-of-the-art in the areas of responsibility
Prepare timely high quality status reports and make presentations to ensure effective communications
Generate intellectual property to protect new insights and research developments
Additional battery development project work
Assist other employees in accomplishment of their project goals
Additional Job Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
2+ years of experience in electrochemistry , organic chemistry , or polymer chemistry
Advanced experimentation skillset in battery cell materials (electrodes and electrolyte) and processing
Masters Degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related fields
What Will Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)
PhD degree with Postdoc experience in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related fields
0-6 years of research experience (postdoc or industrial)
Hands-on knowledge in polymer electrolytes, electrolyte additives, binders and electrode manufacturing for lithium-ion batteries
Experience in battery cell formation process
Good publication record
