Job Summary
Worldwide recognized Dairy Cattle Research, laboratory and consulting/training firm based in Tulare, California is looking to hire veterinarians or graduates with a bachelor / master’s in animal science.
Responsibilities and Duties
Research:
- Experimental treatments administration or supervision of administration.
- Study animals care and handling.
- Clinical evaluation of cattle body systems.
- Measuring of different performance outcomes.
- Biological samples collection and processing.
- Development of data collection forms, entry of data into forms and records maintenance.
- Database building and management.
Laboratory:
- Preparation of samples for analysis (ex. plating of milk in culture media, blood centrifugation, etc).
- Identification of bacteria causing mastitis in milk using culture medium and qPCR.
- In vitro simulation of rumen fermentation.
- Timely cleaning and disinfection of the laboratory, as well as handling of biohazard and general waste.
Assist with the Implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM) Programs.
- Design of work organization materials including task identification, activity flow, standard operating procedures and efficiency forms.
- Training programs to educate farm staff on quality management principles and best practices.
- Monitor health, performance and management using farm and lab generated data.
- Field trials and cost-benefit analysis for decision making.
Qualifications and Skills
Veterinarian / Bachelor or master’s in animal science.
- Intellectual curiosity with an interest in research.
- Strong work ethics and attention to detail with a commitment to provide quality results in a timely fashion.
- Highly motivated self-driven professional willing to welcome challenge and overcome adversity with a positive attitude.
- Willingness to work overtime, nights or weekends depending on workload demands.
- Languages: English and Spanish.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel and Power-Point).
