Form of workThe Einav lab at the La Jolla Institute for Immunology (LJI) in San Diego is seeking a highly motivated junior bioinformatician/research technician to train in bioinformatic analysis. Our lab is 100% computational, and we focus on developing new computational tools ranging from biophysical models to machine learning that can characterize and augment our antibody response against influenza and other rapidly-evolving viruses.
We are a small, close-knit team that is working hard to make the world a better place. This position is expected to be filled by candidates holding a bachelor's degree (or more) and looking for an advanced training position. You will directly report to the principal investigator and help develop cutting-edge computational tools to design the next generation of vaccines. Come join us!
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree (BS/BA)
- Commitment to 2 years of training. A successful term in our lab will make you a very strong candidate for PhD programs at UCSD (or elsewhere) as well as for industry jobs
- Solid programming experience in Python, R, Mathematica, or an equivalent language
- Basic knowledge of data analysis techniques, data visualization, and machine learning
- Strong presentation and communication skills
- Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team
