About the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology

Job Summary

The Aidun lab is seeking a Research Engineer (open rank) to join their team.

Dr. Aidun's research is at the intersection between fundamentals of the physics of complex fluids/thermal transport and applications to engineering and bio transport. Responsibilities
  • Participate in the design and development and get trained on the software and DCS system provided by Valmet for the MP Forming platform (MPFP).
  • Manage the MPFP including start-up, routine operation, housekeeping, and maintenance.
  • Plan and manage operation of the MPFP to produce the samples and results required for sponsored projects that depend on this system.
  • Participate in teaching advanced paper manufacturing including hands on training on the MPFP.
  • Manage paper sample preparation and testing.
  • Manage the paper testing lab at Renewable Bioproducts Institute (RBI).
  • Participate in proposal preparation.
  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in laboratory activities.
Required Qualifications

This position vacancy is an open rank announcement. Research Engineer II

    A Masters degree in Engineering or related fields and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, orA Masters degree in Engineering or related fields and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of Bachelors, orA Doctoral degree

Senior Research Engineer

    A Masters degree in Engineering or related fields and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, orA Masters degree in Engineering or related fields and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of Bachelor's degree, orA Doctoral degree and four (4) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelors degree.
