Projec /Uni Descrip ion
he Applied Embedded Sys ems (AES) division of he Elec ronic Sys ems Labora ory (ELSYS) suppor s mul iple research produc s and projec s in concer wi h developmen eams who are building complex, mul i-face ed embedded and elec ronic sys ems. AES predominan ly focuses on he research, developmen , es ing, and deploymen of embedded elec ronic and elec romechanical sys ems. hese sys ems provide our sponsors wi h echnological solu ions in he fields of Elec ronic Warfare (EW), Radar, command and con rol, communica ions, avionics, en er ainmen , physiological moni oring, and o her applica ions. his research posi ion will suppor elec ronic hardware developmen needs of he Open Sys ems Developmen Branch (OSDB). his includes developing hardware from exis ing open s andards such as OpenVPX as well as developing hardware ha is driving new open s andards.
Job Purpose
he Sys ems Engineer oversees and coordina es he work of echnical eams on sys ems projec s, ensuring he successful design, implemen a ion, opera ion, and echnical managemen of hose projec s. aking a holis ic approach o sys ems engineering, he Sys ems Engineer ensures ha all aspec s of a sys em projec are considered and addressed. he Sys ems Engineer works closely wi h s akeholders o unders and heir needs and hen develops and documen s echnical requiremen s ha mee hose needs. he Sys ems Engineer leads he design eam in developing a sys em archi ec ure ha mee s all of he requiremen s. Af er he sys em is designed, he Sys ems Engineer oversees he implemen a ion of he sys em, working wi h he implemen a ion eam o ensure ha i mee s all of he requiremen s. Once he sys em is deployed, he Sys ems Engineer manages he echnical aspec s of he sys em, including moni oring performance, roubleshoo ing problems, and making improvemen s.

- Lead echnical mee ings wi h G RI and sponsor personnel, and suppor issue racking and hardware developmen planning

- Lead eams of elec rical and mechanical researchers in suppor of sponsored research effor s
Required Minimum Qualifica ions
- Experience wi h open hardware s andards (e.g. OpenVPX)
- Experience developing hardware for embedded environmen s, including bu no limi ed o FPGA designs, analog/digi al circui s, or o her embedded hardware
- Knowledge of compu er archi ec ures as i rela es o embedded hardware and communica ions s andards (e.g., E herne , PCI Express)
Preferred Qualifica ions
- Ac ive Secre Clearance
- Experience wi h In elligen Pla form Managemen In erface (IPMI) or o her forms of open sys ems managemen
- Experience wi h high-speed processing, especially signal processing
- Knowledge of avionics pro ocols and in erfaces, including bu no limi ed o ARINC- and VI A-s andard pro ocols, serial, discre e signal, MIL-S D-1553 and/or analog in erfaces
