This is a term-limited position from two years from the employee's start date.
Duties Include:
The Research Associate is responsible for a variety of research activities on all aspects of the Teaching Excellence grant for CCCS to evaluate the effectiveness of Teaching Excellence initiatives for our 13 colleges. The Teaching Excellence grant research will require both qualitative and quantitative analysis, which may include analyzing student and employee outcomes as well as interviews, focus groups, and/or surveys.
- Collects qualitative data via methods such as interviews or focus groups.
- Develops and administers surveys.
- Prepare, format, and clean data.
- Research and resolve problems in accuracy of data. Organize and perform cross-check data and data testing as needed to ensure integrity and validity.
- Utilize SQL and/or Cognos to pull quantitative data from the Operational Data Store (ODS).
- Analyzes findings, evaluates the reliability and validity of data, and specifies the range of logically possible explanations.
- Provide/report information to both internal and external sources by writing queries, mining data, and analyzing and interpreting data from a wide variety of data sources.
- Produce a professional final report on findings with an executive summary, data visualizations, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Use a variety of tools including SPSS or R to perform statistical analysis on collected data.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation.
- Bachelor's degree that includes exposure to research methodology and data collection, validation, interpretation, and reporting. Please be sure to clearly describe in your resume or cover letter how your degree meets this requirement.
- Two years of experience which includes both quantitative and qualitative data collection, reporting and database use. Must have included experience with statistical programming languages such as, but not limited to, R, Python, Stan, SAS, Stat, SPSS and experience using report writing tools such as Cognos or writing SQL queries against a relational database.
- Experience in a community college or other higher education setting is preferred but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to compare data outcomes for reasonableness and perform quality assurance.
- Ability to communicate complex ideas to a wide variety of audiences.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team along with meeting tight timeframes.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of System staff, college staff, as well as units external to the System, such as the Colorado Department of Higher Education.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks and to meet deadlines.
- Expertise in statistical methods such as program evaluation, experimental design, natural language processing, Bayesian inference, hierarchical/multilevel modeling, longitudinal data analysis, quality measurement, and/or predictive modeling.
- Detailed functional knowledge and expertise of data collection methods, data analysis, data integrity, and report preparation.
- Practiced in conducting institutional research, social science research or data analysis.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports.

- Occasional travel may be necessary.
- Alternative work arrangements, including flexible schedules and remote work may be available. All work must be completed in the state of Colorado.
