This position will initially support active contracts based on their skills and program needs. PRIMARY ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serve as a technical expert in acoustic sensors, signal processing, and/or general acoustics.
• Collect data and perform data analysis using software tools such as MATLAB, LabVIEW, and/or Python.
• Develop novel algorithms that can either be used to optimize sound localization and perception in real time, to solve complex hearing-related challenges.
• Act as a technical resource for other engineers and scientists within the company.

EDUCATION

• Requires B.S. or higher in acoustics, physics, engineering, or a related field.

REQUIREMENTS

• S. + 6 years, M.S. +4 years, or Ph.D. (or equivalent)
• US Citizen
• Currently hold or have the ability to obtain a security clearance
• On-site work at ARA’s Littleton, Colorado facility
• Periodic travel to other ARA offices, subcontractor sites, and customer locations
• Demonstrated ability to work well within a team and independently.

The ideal candidate will possess one or more of the following skills:

• Understanding of the field of acoustics and/or human perception of sound.
• Proficiency using MATLAB, LabVIEW, Python, and/or FORTRAN.
• Experience designing and conducting tests with electroacoustic systems, human subjects, and/or animal models in a laboratory setting.
• Experience applying modeling software to problems in acoustics, such as COMSOL, LS Dyna, or similar.
• Experience developing and performing acoustic field measurements.
• Experience working with ISO/ANSI/ASTM/MIL standards.
• Experience performing contract/grant-based research and development relevant to National Defense applications.
• Motivation to succeed in a cross-functional team spanning multiple disciplines to deliver results in a timely manner.
• A strong record of written and verbal communication through reports, peer-reviewed publications, and/or conference presentations.
• Demonstrated interest in leadership in areas such as: leading new research programs, development of new facilities, and being a mentor for other employees.
