Job description

Chemical, Paper, & Biomedical Engineering: Research Associate to play a pivotal role in a multidisciplinary research project funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The project will focus on developing a novel adaptive optical imaging for retina and skin imaging in both human and small animals under the mentorship of Dr. Hui Wang.

The Research Associate will collaborate closely with the principal investigator to design and implement research studies; examine experimental and clinical data, maintaining meticulous laboratory records; consistently share findings with the principal investigator and fellow researchers; aid in crafting technical reports, drafting grant proposals, and preparing scientific presentations; play a pivotal role in peer-reviewed publications, as both a lead and co-author; provide mentorship to both undergraduate and graduate students; collaborate with a diverse team of research specialists.

Required: Master's in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field, experiences of building optical systems over an optical bench, familiar with data and imaging acquisition and processing (Labview), demonstration of independent research capability (i.e., publications).

Consideration may be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field; programming experience in one of programming languages. (i.e., C++, C#, or Java); experience of developing optical imaging devices, such as OCT or two-photon imaging; experience of developing .Net frame-based application; experience of data or imaging processing through deep learning; experience of programming FPGA; excellent interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills.
