Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Associate - Post Doc - Diabetes/Obesity Research - Grant Funded - Mineola.
In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for performing the day-to-day laboratory activities as it relates to the research study. Duties may also include, but not limited to novel experimental design, execution, data analyses, manuscript preparation/ submission, and grant application preparation.

Job Responsibilities:

    • Engages in research project. Understands specific aims and carries out appropriate experiments. Makes alterations in strategy where necessary. Assists technicians with experimentation and troubleshooting. Assists in training fellows, residents, and summer staff.
    • Performs other duties as assigned
    • Maintains animal colony. Works with and cares for small laboratory research animals. Assists with animal surgeries.
    • Responsible for laboratory resources. Orders reagents in a timely manner. Maintains detailed records of purchasesexpenditures. Keeps within budgetary constraints.
    • Conceives and plans experiments based on past results and current literature. Creates back-up plans when experiments do not work.
    • Uses a variety of appropriate strategies to attain knowledge that is usable and applicable. Uses resource materials and tools of inquiry. Uses library and internet. Interacts with other scientists. Asks questions. Contacts technical services as necessary.
    • Produces valid and reliable results and seeks guidance in changing approach as necessary. Uses data analysis and interpretation tools and states conclusions clearly in both oral and written form. Ensure figures are prepared for meetingspublication.
    • Sets forth daily plan and completes experiments in a timely manner organized with written plans outlining experiments. Ensure laboratory notebook is organized and is legible.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Doctoral degree in Biomedical Science. 1 - 2 years of research experience required. Working knowledge of lab instruments (spectrometer, microscopes, centrifuges, autoclaves, etc. ) and supplies. Strong communication (both written and oral), interpersonal, detail orientation, multitasking skills. Exhibits creativity, and initiative. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office especially Excel and Word. Proficiency in molecular biological and cellular biology techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:
1 - 2 years Experience with various molecular, cellular, or biochemical techniques; scientific calculations, scientific graphing, and scientific data log,.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $58,500.00 - $58,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
