AIR's 2024 Virtual Summer Internship Program is designed to identify, attract, and hire the best collegiate talent that will drive creativity and innovation while enabling the organization to create a diverse and skilled talent pool. Spanning 10 - 12 weeks, AIR's paid summer program provides interns with various learning and networking opportunities that enhance their skillset and build lasting professional connections.
AIR is currently seeking Research Associate Interns to join our team during our 2024 Virtual Summer Internship Program. The internship period may range from mid-May through the end of August 2024 depending on student availability.

ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities for the position include:
Based on student interests, existing skills, and project needs, each intern will be assigned to contribute to the development and execution of two to four education program evaluations, policy studies, or research projects over the course of at least ten weeks during the period specified above. In the past, interns have joined existing research teams and made a valuable contribution by:
- Coordinating activities for research projects and supporting project management
- Assisting in the design and development of evaluations of education programs and improvement initiatives
- Conducting literature reviews regarding various education topics or research methodologies
- Assisting in the design and planning of qualitative and quantitative data collection instruments including interview protocols, focus group protocols and surveys
- Cleaning, coding, and analyzing data from survey data, interviews, observations and extant data using the appropriate scientific approaches and software (e.g. Nvivo, STATA, or R)
- Preparing documents, portions of reports, briefs, charts, and graphs that describe and interpret findings of analyses
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to provide user-oriented research products focused on education related topics, including developing web content.
- Working independently and in team-based projects
Education, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Pursuing a Master's degree within Social Sciences (Economics, Psychology, Public Policy, Sociology, etc.)
- Demonstrated interest in education policy, child and family policy, STEM education, program evaluation, social emotional learning, and/or use of artificial intelligence in education
- Knowledge of statistical analysis software such as Stata and/or R
- Demonstrated familiarity with data management and analysis
- Experience with or some knowledge of data collection methodologies and techniques such as structured interviews, observations, survey research, and research or policy literature reviews.
Skills:
- Ability to analyze data using descriptive and inferential statistics
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

This position offers $25.00 per hour. Salary offers are made based on internal equity within the organization and external equity with competitive markets. Please note this is the salary for candidates that are based in the United States.
