Internship Description:
National Safety Apparel, located in Chicago, IL is looking for students pursuing degrees in Manufacturing, Industrial or Process Engineering, with an interest in lean manufacturing and process improvement. Our interns will have the opportunity to work with operators, maintenance, supervisors, and engineers to learn and research the process issues and solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Support process improvement & troubleshooting
- Assess and document current processes and identify areas for improvement
- Learn about the overall manufacturing processes & daily operation of a manufacturing facility
- Determine processes for sequences of manufacturing operations on new & existing products in accordance with manufacturing requirements
- Help provide training to make sure processes and equipment are used effectively
- Collaborate on planning workflow, space requirements and equipment layout to improve process efficiency
Experience/Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or other related degrees
- Willingness to learn in a fast-paced, high-performing work environment
- Ability to perform all duties required in both office and manufacturing environments

- Strong Communication: Ability to express oneself verbally and in writing, and listen well
- Actively identifying new areas for learning and applying newly gained knowledge/skill on the job

- Physical demands are minimal beyond the ability to spend time on your feet on a plant floor, as well as being able to occasionally lift 20lbs
