Summary:
Temple University's Institutional Research & Assessment Department is searching for a Research Analyst I to bring onto the team!
This Research Analyst I position in the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment will report to the Assistant Director, Assessment and Evaluation. This position will provide research and independent data analysis in support of the university's strategic planning and decision-making activities. The incumbent's responsibilities, under general direction, will include the development and support of quantitative and qualitative research projects, and the collection, compilation, validation and analysis of both student and university-wide data in preparation for the reporting university information to both internal and external audiences.
With a specific focus on internal survey administration, the incumbent will support the Assistant Director and other Research Analysts in the development of survey instruments, marketing and publicity, communication to key stakeholders and selection of the population sample. Key responsibilities also include analysis of survey data and the summarization of survey results to produce reports, dashboards, and presentations tailored to target audiences. The successful candidate will respond to ad-hoc requests for information, research and/or data; conduct and summarize background research (ex: literature reviews, benchmarking, internet searches); and provide general support, communication, and content development/organization for the unit. The incumbent may also assist the unit with the administration and assessment of other areas including, but not limited to, course and teaching evaluations, placement assessment, and community engagement reporting. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in social sciences, statistics, educational research or related field and at least one year of directly related experience. A successful candidate will have strong data management experience including the ability to manage large data sets and the ability to work with relational databases and R (or SPSS, SAS). Strong statistical and analytical experience and the proven ability to write effectively with minimal need of an external editor. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills & Abilities:
· Demonstrated ability to work with internal university survey data
· Strong data management skills including the ability to manage large data sets.
· Demonstrated ability to work with relational databases, R (or SPSS, SAS), and web application programs.
· Strong statistical and analytical skill set.
· Advanced proficiency in Excel.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Proven ability to effectively organize and present data in both graphic and tabular presentations.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills with the proven ability to write effectively without the need of an external editor.
· Strong customer service skills, along with the ability to interact with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff.
· Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, in a fast-paced
Preferred:
· Master's degree in social sciences, statistics, educational research, or related field.
· At least three years of directly related full-time work experience.
· Experience working with Banner (or other student information / ERP systems).
· Experience with Structured Query Language and/or Cognos
· Experience working in an Institutional Research office.
· This position requires a background check.
This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
