ROLE TITLE:Institutional Research and Decision Support Analyst

REPORTS TO: Associate Provost for Institutional Effectiveness

Summary of Position

The Institutional Research and Decision Analyst utilizes best practices of data collection, tidiness and reporting to foster a culture of data-informed decision making across the institution. The position is responsible for managing, and analyzing complex data and analytical projects in order to support compliance, accreditation and inform strategic decision making.

What you will do in this role:

  • The ideal candidate has a flexible understanding of data and the processes of data maintenance (clean, store, analyze, visualize, e.g.).
  • Handles internal and external reporting functions in collaboration with campus partners, including IPEDS, the Common Data Set, and strategic key performance indicators.
  • Appropriate handling of personal and confidential data is essential. Proficiency in R is required, Python is desirable.
  • Experience communicating about data in electronic media is highly desirable, as is understanding of the data needs and terminology of higher ed.
  • In addition to strong quantitative skills they are skilled in communication, documentation and reporting of data and analyses.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills are required.

YOUR EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 years required and 4-7 years preferred of relevant professional experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required but will consider years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • Track record of achieving exceptional results.

YOUR FUTURE TEAM

The Office of Institutional Effectiveness provides leadership over Allegheny College’s planning, data collection, and assessment efforts. It works closely with Information Technology Services (ITS) to craft data governance policies and procedures, as well as data architecture.

Working with institutional leadership and faculty to promote and support the mission and strategic planning of the college, the office promotes the use of data and research to inform decisions and improve the institution.

The office brings together datasets from systems across campus to Research and analyze a wide range of institutional and academic issues.

YOUR COMPENSATION

New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. The expected minimum salary rangepoint for this position is $52,000 annually.
