Job Description:
The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences seeks applicants for a Research Administrator III who would assist the Associate Dean for Global Engagement. The Research Administrator III will oversee the financial, business, research and compliance operations for the CALS office of Global Programs. This will include working with the Center for Sustainable Rural Livelihoods (CSRL) which encompasses the Uganda Program (an international non-governmental organization), and the ISU EARTH Program in St John, US Virgin Islands. The Research Administrator III will work with the Director of the CSRL to ensure activities are compliant with US and local regulations, that financial, business and research operations are effectively monitored and reported, and that the educational and research programs are effective and sustainable. The Research Administrator III will develop proposals, monitor and generate reports on programs, projects and research conducted on these sites, and engage regularly with donors and sponsored funding agencies. An important component of the work will be to ensure compliance with ISU, state government, federal agencies and foreign governments. The Research Administrator III will also work closely with the other activities under the Global Engagement office, including study abroad and international collaborations, on business and financial management.
Successful candidates will have a substantial knowledge of accounting and budget forecasting, the capacity to solve complex problems and work independently, an interest in collaborations with international partners, a strong sense of ethics and confidentiality, and excellent communication skills.
This position is based in Ames Iowa, but candidates should expect international travel approximately 3 times per year for 1-2 weeks per trip. Due to time differences, some meetings will be scheduled in the evening or early morning.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.
