Job Description:
Iowa State University is seeking applicants for a Research Administrator I. This role assists with day-to-day operations for the Bioeconomy Institute’s portfolio of research awards, contracts, gifts, and proposals.
The Bioeconomy Institute investigates the entire value chain of biobased products. From plant breeding, biomass production, and logistics to processing, utilization, and economics policy, the Bioeconomy Institute takes a systems-wide approach to find environmentally and economically sustainable solutions. Responsibilities for this position include:
Assist with pre- and post-award financial administration such as budgeting, reporting, and reconciliation of accounts
Maintain accurate and up-to-date project records
Initiate and monitor procurement processes related to research (e.g. professional service contracts, vendor invoices, honoraria, etc.)
Assist with research-related compliance according to university, local, state, federal, and funding agency regulations
Document standard operating procedures for recurring Bioeconomy Institute (BEI) activities
Provide BEI staff and affiliates necessary proposal preparation and submission support
Communicate and provide assistance to institute co-directors and staff, students, postdocs for conference travel
Provide support for on-campus visitors to BEI
The successful candidate will be an individual contributor to research focused teams, take initiative and demonstrate leadership to achieve shared goals. Qualities beneficial to research administration include time management, attention-to-detail and strong organizational skills. The candidate should have excellent written and oral communication skills and a willingness to learn university and federal guidelines for sponsored awards. A candidate that demonstrates adaptability and a willingness to learn and problem solve will be successful in this position.
This is a one year, fixed term position with the opportunity for renewal.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.
