San Francisco Health Plan (SFHP) is actively looking for a Release Manager.
Reporting to the Supervisor, Release Management, the Release Manager is responsible for critical pieces of the release lifecycle, including scheduling, coordinating and the management of releases across the enterprise for multiple applications. The releases can be inclusive of software changes, application updates, security improvements, hardware upgrades, and implementation of projects and programs.
You will implement and manage software deployments as they migrate from development to testing in lower environments, and ultimately production environments. You will work collaboratively with project participants, application owners, feature sponsors, systems analysts, developers, testers, production and systems support teams, and a variety of other resources to ensure timely delivery.
You will also work with IT management to improve software development processes and practices associated with continuously building, deploying, and updating software. In addition, the Release Manager will be responsible for environment management, including scheduling restores, deidentification, prep work for release readiness, and coordination with other efforts that utilize the shared environments.
The Release Manager responsibilities also include building and maintaining a centralized schedule by working closely with the many product portfolios managers in the organization, assist in developing the IT strategic direction for release management tools and processes, and manage interdependencies between projects to ensure milestone adherence and measurable quality controls are in place.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Plan the release windows and cycles across a portfolio.
- Manage risk and resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule, and quality.
- Measure and monitor progress to ensure releases are delivered on time, within budget, and that they meet or exceed expectations.
- Coordinate release content and effort based on feature backlogs, issue submissions, pending service requests, third party applications, or operating system updates.
- Manage and execute communication related to all key project plans, commitments, requirements, QA test plans, schedules, and scope changes.
- Conduct release readiness reviews, milestone reviews, and business go/no-go reviews.
- Produce deployment scripts and implementation plans.
- Provide regular release reporting and chair release meetings.
- Communicate release details and schedules to the business as required.
- Negotiate, plan and manage all release activities.
- Maintain the release schedule for all core services and ensure alignment across key partners.
- Continually work towards making improvements in the release process.
- Lead and co-ordinate the go-live activities including the execution of the deployment plans and checklists.
- Assist with development of scripts and automation tools used to build, integrate, and deploy software releases to various platforms.
- Ensure all changes included in scope for a release are ready for Change Advisory Board (CAB) review.
- Maintain a release repository and manage key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists.
- Research new software development and configuration management methodologies and technologies and analyze their application to current needs.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
- Bachelors degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 2-5 years of previous release and/or project management experience.
- 3-8 years of experience in IT operations, development, or testing.
- Working knowledge of how to use Azure DevOps Server for documenting work items, building and managing dashboards/scrum boards, and generating reports.
- Understanding of Azure DevOps Server source control and deployment features.
- Advanced knowledge of Agile and Scrum framework.
- Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle.
- Ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion.
- Demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills.
