- JOB SUMMARY
- First and foremost, Registered Nurses (RN) at MHSC serve as patient advocates. Registered Nurses provide professional nursing care to patients or populations of patients through the application of the nursing process, standards of nursing practice, standards of care and adherence to regulatory and professional practice acts. Registered Nurses at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County (MHSC) work in a variety of settings including Clinics, Outpatient care, Inpatient care, Informatics, Quality, Education and Leadership. Each RN is accountable for practicing within his or her scope of practice. Each RN reports to a Director or Manager of a service and ultimately to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) of the organization. Each RN is responsible for one's own practice under their own RN licensure as a nursing professioal. RNs may oversight care for certified nursing assistants and delegate care to qualified individuals based on practice standards of the organization and the Wyoming State Board of Nursing. RNs are accountable to, responsible to and have authority over their own professional practice.
- JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. The accredited school is defined as the specific school of nursing accreditation that is commonly ACEN and/or CCNE. The School of Nursing degree may be that of an Associate Degree in Nursing, Diploma in Nursing or Bachelor's degree in Nursing. A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is encouraged and can be attained after hire. May possess advanced degrees in Nursing at the masters or doctoral level. Currently licensed and in good standing as a Registered Nurse by the Wyoming State Board of Nursing / eCompact. Competency requirements are determined per clinical areas. Requirements for BLS, ACLS, TNCC, NRP, ONS Provider Course or others are determined per clinical area. Certification in specialty is encouraged.
- Job Knowledge and Skills:
- Demonstrates clinical competency and proficiency commensurate with specialty and years of experience as an RN.
• Performs specific respiratory care procedures as approved by the Director of Cardiopulmonary Services and the Chief Nursing Officer with documentation of competency assessment.
• Demonstrates compassion, kindness and respect in communications with customers of MHSC, including peers, all other MHSC employees and providers who work at MHSC as our community partners.
• Demonstrates abilities to manage time wisely, prioritize patient care, recognize situations of urgency, possess an appropriate sense of urgency, anticipate relevant orders, report pertinent and relevant information to providers and peers, recognize and prioritize changes in patient condition, and prevent and recognize complications commensure with years of experience as per Benner's Novice-to-Expert theory.
