Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Infection Control Assessment: Conduct regular assessments of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and analyze data to identify trends and potential areas for improvement.
- Policy Development: Collaborate with the Infection Control team to develop, implement, and update infection prevention policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Education and Training: Provide education and training to healthcare staff on Infection Control practices, including hand hygiene, isolation precautions, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Surveillance: Monitor and report infectious disease outbreaks within the facility and promptly initiate appropriate control measures.
- Compliance: Ensure that the facility complies with all Infection Control regulations and standards set by local, state, and federal authorities.
- Patient Care: Assist in the care of patients with infectious diseases, including isolation management and follow-up care.
- Data Collection: Maintain accurate records of Infection Control data, including incidence rates, surveillance reports, and interventions.
- Outbreak Response: Participate in outbreak investigations and coordinate with relevant departments to contain and manage outbreaks effectively.
- Equipment and Environmental Control: Oversee the proper cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of medical equipment and the healthcare environment to minimize the risk of infections.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improvement in Infection Control processes and work collaboratively to implement changes that enhance patient safety.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in state of practice.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with a focus on Infection Control.
- Knowledge of Infection Control principles, guidelines, and best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
