GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Excellent opportunity for Registered Nurses to provide professional nursing services to residents at the Wyoming Life Resource Center (WLRC) in Lander. WLRC operates an Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) and newly opened Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF). We have adopted the Green House model of care, which is built upon the values of a meaningful life for our residents, empowered staff, and a real home environment.
**This position is eligible for a $2,000 hiring bonus** See notes for eligibility and conditions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
  • Provide continuous care to residents through assessing, evaluating, and implementing processes to assure appropriate resident care and outcomes.
  • Work with other disciplines, such as therapists, residential staff, and dietary and behavior analysts.
  • Serve as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team.
  • Accurately prepare and administer medications and treatments as ordered by the medical providers. Monitor for effectiveness.
  • Provide meals via G/J tubes and/or assist with meals.
  • Give injections and IVs.
  • Provide pre and post-operative care.
  • Triage calls from staff and handle concerns and emergencies.
  • Communicate with medical providers and follow through on orders as appropriate.
  • Review lab values and consult reports. Monitor seizures and weights.
  • Provide formal assessments, documentation, and progress notes.
  • Complete or assist with resident ADLs.
  • Coordinate and schedule appointments, consultations, surgeries, and procedures.
  • Participate in team meetings.
  • Arrange for and conduct nursing clinics and classes. Teach individuals and groups about health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Wyoming.
KNOWLEDGE:
  • Knowledge of the laws, principles, practices, and techniques of professional nursing.
  • Knowledge of ICF and SNF regulations, the Nurse Practice Act, and state and facility policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of maintaining medical records, charts, reports, and observations.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply medical diagnosis and treatment to resident care.
  • Ability to develop a nursing diagnosis and plans of care and assume responsibility for own actions.
  • Knowledge of de-escalation techniques and behavioral interventions.
  • Ability to work with and around WLRC residents, including those who may display challenging behaviors.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and in a positive manner with residents, staff, families, guardians, and the public.
  • Skills in good customer service practices.
  • Skills in time management and computer usage.
  • Must be certified in BLS or have the ability to obtain BLS certification upon employment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Associate's Degree (typically in Nursing)
Experience:
0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing) with acquired knowledge at the level of an LPN
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing) with acquired knowledge at the level of an LPN
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming
Necessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Must be able to safely move (twisting, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling), position and lift people with multiple and severe disabilities.
  • Ability to monitor sounds, noises, location of residents, etc. to assure safety and assess imminent danger and emerging concerns.
  • Ability to perform CPR, First Aid, Crisis Management, and utilize proper infection control practices.
  • Ability to use behavior management techniques and intervene during episodes of resident behavioral episodes.
  • Work evenings, nights, and/or weekends when the situation requires it.

NOTES:
  • FLSA: Non-Exempt
  • The Wyoming Life Resource Center participates in E-Verify.     • Internal candidates will be required to remain in the position for a minimum of (1) year from the promotion date.
    • Employees will only be eligible for (1) hiring bonus in a 12-month period.
