Job Overview

GridX, Inc. is seeking an experienced and energetic Regional Vice President of Sales with a track record of successfully developing and closing multi-year, multi-million-dollar Enterprise SaaS contracts with utility and energy companies. The Regional VP reports to the Chief Customer Officer and is responsible for building relationships, navigating the enterprise selling process, and ultimately closing deals & delivering new revenue to GridX.   


The Regional Vice President of Sales candidate must understand the underlying currents of the industry, prefer the challenge of enterprise sales to anything else, and be comfortable building multi-level relationships with decision makers at large organizations. Are you up for the challenge? 


In this role, you will:  

  • Identify and engage with key influencers within utility accounts to identify a set of needs that the GridX solution can address. 
  • Build a sales pipeline by creating and strategically advancing sales opportunities through defined sales stages. 
  • Articulate the value to prospects and clients that GridX can bring to them and map how our products and solutions can address their problems and challenges. 
  • Manage the complex sales cycles of selling to utility teams managing customer programs, customer services, regulatory/pricing programs and CIS/back-office systems. 
  • Negotiate agreements. 
  • Deliver new bookings within a set of targeted utility accounts in North America. 
  • Prospect for new business and secure introductions within existing GridX customers to execute GridX's proven 'land and expand' sales model. 
  • Work with partners including third party vendors, utility consultants and system integrators to form the winning bid strategy on utility RFPs. 
  • Interface with other internal functional departments including product, engineering, and customer success teams to create happy utility customers.


The VP Sales will be responsible for sales and business development activities for a set of targeted accounts within the North American utility landscape. More about you: 


  • A proven track record of engaging and closing deals with leading electric utilities.   
  • Passionate about selling, and a desire to trailblaze sophisticated new market opportunities. 
  • Have a successful track record of targeting and winning new business—with strategies for long sales cycles. 
  • Can present to and persuade a large room of stakeholders from a variety of departments. 
  • Enjoy building long term relationships with utility executives.   
  • Your customers at previous stops trust you and would not hesitate to do business with you again. 
  • Get excited at the idea of being able to move the needle at the corporate level through both your individual contributions as well as through collaborations with the Product, Marketing, Customer Success, and Finance & Legal departments. 
  • Bring effective presentation skills, strong technical know-how, up-to-date on cutting-edge digital technologies and a passion for contributing to new product development. 
  • Have some background and familiarity with utility rates and/or utility billing systems or operations. 
  • Ability to travel, up to 50%.


Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree.  
  • 5 years’ experience working at a high growth SaaS company, preferably some of that time at companies with less than 100 employees. 
  • A deep understanding of the enterprise sales cycle and its challenges. 
  • Experience selling to Utilities that includes company contacts you can leverage to get meetings and introductions within the client. 
  • Strategic and “big picture” thinking capabilities. 


Preferred Qualifications 

  • Previous experience selling utility rate/tariff-related or billing solutions is strongly desired 
  • Interest in Clean Energy, Climate Change, Decarbonization, or Renewable Energy is a big plus.

Your Location 

Remote US.  It is expected that Regional VP will be responsible for clients and prospects in the Southern and/or Eastern United States. You must be able to travel easily in the defined territory. 


Compensation 

Compensation is determined by several factors which may include skillset, experience level, and geographic location. The expected base salary range for this role is $150,000 to $180,000 per year. Please note this range is an estimate and actual pay may vary based on qualifications, experience and location. This role includes a generous incentive comp plan, which will be outlined during interviews.
