Description of Role
The Regional Manager People, Americas is responsible for managing and delivering all HR and Training & Development activity in our Americas Region. This is an exciting opportunity to liaise, collaborate with, and support our key stakeholders and team members in this region on People-related matters, policy, and strategy. You will report to, and work closely with the Associate Director of People to deliver this work in line with our regional and company-wide goals.
Overview of Role
You will initiate new ideas to drive the People function forward within your region and globally, where applicable. This will include establishing new processes, developing new or evolving existing policies, and delivering on other regional or company-wide People related projects, as directed by your Line Manager, supported by your direct reports, and collaborating closely day-to-day with the Regional Manager(s) People in our other regions (currently EMEA/Australasia). You will be responsible for line managing the regional HR Coordinator and T&D Assistant in the Americas, supporting their personal and professional development pathways in line with business needs.
You will play a key role in supporting our Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Strategy through championing EDI values across the employee lifecycle in your region, role modelling to your team and other key stakeholders on all EDI related matters. You should have an awareness of the developing role EDI plays within global HR practices and will be expected to remain up to date and advise on best practice and compliance within your region in conjunction with our EDI team. You, alongside the rest of the People Team, will have the chance to partner with the Blue Team our Corporate Social Responsibility team on crossover projects and initiatives, as required.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience as an HR business partner or similar role, strong management capabilities, have run training and development initiatives within an organization, and have a decent understanding of how HR and learning and development work together to support a companys wider business goals. The role will require you to consistently demonstrate strong attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, empathy and confidentiality, proven project management and delegation skills, and the ability to effectively organise and prioritise your weekly and longer-term project deliverables for you and your team.
Key Responsibilities
- Line manage regional HR and T&D Coordinator(s) and Assistant(s)
- Overall management of entire employee lifecycle within your region including onboarding, inductions, employee changes, leaves of absence, employee reviews, remuneration, performance management, employee relations, investigations, termination procedures, and offboarding.
- Act as primary point of contact and manage relationship with PEO (Professional Employer Organization); build strategic partnership with PEO and ensure we are leveraging the PEO to best serve the needs of US employees and commercially as a business.
- Build effective relationships with all employees and the Americas leadership teams, the global People team, and the wider Business Support team, ensuring a smooth journey for the entirety of the employee lifecycle from recruitment to offboarding.
- Serve as a business partner by providing generalist People related advice, guidance, and consultation with Business Unit senior managers/leadership and team members in your region, on company policies, procedures, and current legislation; conduct regular check-ins to cultivate relationships.
- Guide and support line managers on employee performance and development matters, including Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) or other developmental plans to improve and support employee learning and development.
- With support from the regional People team, ensure personnel and developmental records are filed securely and are always up to date, and employee changes are processed in the HRIS (currently PeopleHR) and the PEO, including leaves of absence, vacation/sick time, disability forms, workers compensation, and terminations.
- Deliver and manage the Americas Training & Development program in line with the Company and Business Units goals, including managing the creation, development, coordination, delivery, and maintenance of existing T&D documents, frameworks, processes, content training sessions and materials.
- Regular HR and T&D reporting, including key metrics, track and highlight trends, EDI/People related insights, and employment best practices to support business objectives, supported by regional People team as necessary.
- Engage and build effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to respond to and manage employee changes, employee relations, and payroll, including employment counsel, as needed, Finance, and Operations.
- Remain up to date with and make recommendations based on jurisdictional employment law, regulations, compliance, benefits, payroll, and overall best practice, while also meeting the business needs and liaising with PEO and Associate Director of People, as required.
- Maintain and manage updates of regional Employee Handbook (policies & procedures) to ensure compliance and updates in line with business needs.
- In close collaboration with other Regional Manager(s) People, manage our leaning platforms, including LinkedIn Learning, to track employee utilization and ensure content is up to date and fit for purpose.
- Liaise with our Recruitment Coordinator on recruitment activity within your region, as required.
- Enhance and develop engagement and wellbeing initiatives in line with our overall strategy.
- Attend and participate in regional forums/team meetings to highlight People news and initiatives.
- Support on driving improvements in diversity and inclusion in line with the company EDI strategic goals; responsible for implementing diversity and inclusion initiatives within the region, as required.
- Champion our cultural values within the People team and wider organisation at all times.

Qualifications and Key Skills

Essential
- Minimum five years of experience as an HR business partner or related role.
- Minimum two years of experience managing at least two HR employees.
- Professional working experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
Desirable
- Experience working with a PEO is highly desired.
- Experience as an administrator of a learning system, such as LinkedIn.
- Proficiency in or familiarization of payroll operations.
- Some experience of Learning & Development within an organization a plus.
- Demonstrable experience in influencing and strategic problem solving.
- Effective communication and critical thinking skills.
- Confident presentation skills.
- Demonstrates empathy and experience driving inclusion work.
Interpersonal Skills
- Ability to lead and manage in a collaborative style within a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate well with a wide range of stakeholders and seek consensus to move projects forward; able to demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstratable project management and change management experience.
- Ability to work through ambiguity and deliver tangible results.
- A strategic thinker, but with high attention to detail - the ability to think, plan, and execute on multiple projects in different phases simultaneously.

Working Hours
The role is being offered on an 'at will', exempt basis at 40 hours per week.
As an international organisation, the needs of the business are as such that this role requires a flexibility in working hours (which can be variable from week to week) to facilitate project demands and maintain support across our global entities varying time-zones. Working hours patterns will be agreed with your line manager to suit your personal circumstances and the current project load.
The role is subject to a three-month probationary period.
Location
We are currently working in a distributed hybrid model, meaning you will work from your home or other place of your choosing, with in-office presence at least one (1) day per week at the Charcoalblue New York City Studio. Travel within the US and occasional travel internationally for projects and/or team building as required, with advanced notice.
Salary
The salary range for this role is $80,000 - $100,000 per year.

Annual Leave
Take-What-You-Need (TWYN) Leave Team members have no cap on the number of days they wish to take in any one year. This means you can plan holiday or vacation time or request time when you need it, without the worry of running out of leave days. TWYN leave requests must follow policy guidelines and team members are encouraged to use a minimum of 15 days of paid time off per year (prorated in the first year), in addition to federal and some local public holidays.
Charcoalblue traditionally closes its studios between Christmas and New Years Day, resulting in an additional 4-5 discretionary paid vacation days each year.
