The ideal candidate will reside near Summersville, Fayettville, Oak Hill, Flatwoods, Elkins or Weston, WV, and must have a four-year Forestry Degree and serveral years experience. Description:
Lead, coordinate, oversee and participate in all aspects of FORECON's forestry and timberland management activities in West Virginia, which includes inspiring, training and developing our regional team of Foresters and Forest Technicians, and managing the office in Oak Hill, WV.
Principal Duties Include:
- Leadership, Management and Development of our Oak Hill, West Virginia and Elkins, West Virginia-area field staff.
- Management and oversight of long-term timberland land management operations
- Provide direction to staff for the meeting annual timber sale-preparation and forest inventory goals.
- Regularly meet with clients and customers.
- Perform field auditing functions as required.
- Perform other job-related duties as requested by the Directors.
- In addition to operations leadership and staff development, this position requires forestry fieldwork including but not limited to: timber sale layout and administration; timber marking; cruise layout and cruising; access research and problem solving.
Principal Requirements include:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Forest Resource Management (Forestry) from an accredited school and 5+ years of practical field experience.
- Competent with contracts and obligations, have knowledge of environmental laws and regulations, knowledge of silvicultural systems in Appalachian hardwoods.
- Forest management expertise including familiarity with economic implications of forest management and standards of performance.
- Basic knowledge of maps and map projections.
- Must be competent in forest mensuration techniques including point sample, plot and 100% inventory methods.
- Basic knowledge of office software: Word; Excel; Email; and PowerPoint.
- Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability and willingness to work out of town as assigned for 1-2 week time periods.
- Registration as a Licensed Forester in West Virginia is preferred
- Management level experience, SFI, FSC, and/or BMP training, and ACF or SAF Certified Forester designation is preferred.

Successful candidate may have periodic use of a company vehicle for business purposes at the discretion of the Director of Operations. Basic forestry equipment and professional dues are provided by the company.
