Job Summary

This position is a member of the Corporate FSQR team and serves to support the Regional FSQR Managers as well as audit team. This position is a representative for all applicable areas within Quality andFood Safety to ensure that we satisfy our customers, comply with corporate and local/state/federal legal and Regulatory requirements, and continuously improve our systems, processes, and culture.  Ensures product safety, legality, quality, and authenticity of all products produced.

This position can be performed in Overland Park, KS; Elgin, IL; or at any Morton Salt plant location.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attend peer review meetings for internal audits, with the intent to develop into a FSQR Auditor floater.
  • Designated back up to Regional FSQR Managers when out of the office due to travel or vacations.
  • Support additional workload during facility hyper care situations.
  • Drive complaint investigations at the facility level, specifically those that are out of the norm or repeats.
  • Oversight of export Certificates of Analysis (COAs) ensuring all requirements are met.
  • SAP coach for facilities and other functions including, point of contact for COAs to customers when requested, identifying the root cause for gap in initial distribution of the COA, day to day SAP tasks, creation or modification of job aids, etc.
  • Ownership of the purchase order process for Corporate FSQR.
  • Oversight and scheduling of Corporate 3rd party service providers (ex: calibrations, magnet pull strength verifications, etc).
  • Work with facilities to obtain real time feedback regarding corporate FSQR policy changes prior to implementation. Provide training to facility FSQR team and General Managers on corporate policy updates and reason for change.
  • Support Management of Change (MOC) process by being a liaison between the facilities and MOC initiator. Track the scheduling of and obtain feedback on plant trails then provide to appropriate parties. For critical plant trials, participate on site supporting local FSQR team.
  • Support the design or modification of plant documents, forms, etc. under the guidance of the Regional FSQR Managers.
  • Coordination of corporate driven mock recalls.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or other related science field
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of International Safety Protocol (ISP) and Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), Standards and Regulatory Requirements of CFIA.
  • PCQI-certification in Human and/or Animal Feed preferred.
  • Highly self-motivated, high energy and ability to work independently and team contributor and collaborator, show initiative, and drive positive change in system, processes, and culture.
  • Ability to understand and comply with all company policies and procedures as well as all applicable local/state/federal regulations.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication skills and able to manage conflict in a stressful environment
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and ability to work successfully under pressure in a fast paced and challenging site environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information to all levels throughout the Morton Salt organization as well as internal and external staff, government authorities, auditors, customers, vendors, occasionally under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Regularly required to sit or stand, reach and move about the facility.
