Job Summary
Join our dynamic team and become a driving force in shaping the future of our Regional Continuous Improvement initiatives! We are seeking a passionate and experienced Continuous Improvement Specialist to lead the charge in optimizing operations across Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, California, and Arizona, supporting the thriving UFP Retail business segment.
Position Overview:
As a Continuous Improvement Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in implementing and managing our plant's CI initiative. Operating under general direction, you'll exercise discretion and judgment while infusing creativity into your work. This is not just a job; it's an opportunity to make a lasting impact and drive positive change.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and cultivate the Continuous Improvement Team for the region.
  • Effectively manage CI activities within the plant.
  • Evaluate plant operations to identify areas of waste and drive improvement opportunities.
  • Facilitate engaging VSM and Kaizen activities.
  • Develop, prioritize, and implement solutions to enhance performance and reduce waste.
  • Document improvements and create standard work instructions.
  • Educate, coach, and mentor employees at all levels in CI and manufacturing principles.
  • Develop programs to foster employee involvement and promote a Continuous Improvement culture.
  • Attend and share knowledge from seminars, lectures, and training classes on CI.

Qualifications:
Knowledge:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Three to five years of experience in a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel/spreadsheets.
  • Working knowledge of 5s, Kanban, standardized work flow, value stream mapping, Kaizen, and visual environment/factory.
  • Preferred experience and knowledge of UFP's organization and product lines.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Strong communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Business math application, planning, organizing, and prioritizing abilities.
  • Mobility in the work environment.
  • Willingness to work hours mandated by management.
  • Ability to pass a drug test.

  • Self-managing and excelling under minimal supervision.
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, a good listener, and effective communicator.
  • Strong organizational skills with acute attention to detail.

Compensation & Benefit Information:
  • Salary Pay Range: $80-$90K. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by experience and other job-related factors such as geographical location.
  • Bonus/Incentive Pay: Incentive pay may be available for certain job roles and may include piece rate incentives, weekly production bonuses, trip rates, and employee referral bonuses. A discretionary annual bonus based on Company and business unit performance may also be provided.
