Summary:
The Continuous Improvement Specialist is the primary resource providing expert level operational training to achieve World-Class levels of equipment productivity and safe equipment operations. As a member of the Operations Services Group, is a subject matter expert on mobile equipment management, efficient equipment operating practices, and mining methodology.
Responsibilities:
- Provides classroom and field instruction to quarry equipment operators, operator teams, and site management personnel in the areas of:
- Machine familiarity, functional features, and operational characteristics
- Machine inspection, care, and responding to machine alerts
- Safe operating practices, operating in a quarry environment, and emergency procedures
- Efficient material extraction and transportation methods
- Develops and continuously updates appropriate training materials
- Evaluates the operational effectiveness of individual operators, operator teams, and site management personnel assessing the need for future individualized or group training or coaching
- Communicates and drives operational performance standards and expectations
- Evaluates site configurations and conditions and provides input into site maintenance and development plans to maximize productivity
- Evaluates equipment fleet configurations and performance and provides input into equipment selection and sizing to maximize productivity
- Leverages and coordinates OEM and aftermarket training resources available to the company
- Continues development of, administers, and leads equipment operations training programs
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- 15 years of operations experience in quarrying and mining environments
- 10 years of primary loader and haul truck operating experience
- 5 years of experience training equipment operators
- Extensive, practical knowledge of MSHA, OSHA, and other regulatory matters
- Ability to communicate and foster a vision
- Strong listening, oral, written, and presentation skills
- Strong computer skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, FPC, CMMS)
- Have or able to obtain the highest levels of Caterpillar Certified Trainer certifications
- Able to travel extensively with frequent overnight stays
- Team player that projects confidence and professionalism
- High school diploma
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bi-Lingual (Spanish/English)
- Current MSHA annual refresher certification
