D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Region Controller. The right candidate will oversee region financial reporting and planning to set goals and measure attainment of goals. Lead senior management in compliance with company policies. Act as a liaison between corporate and region divisions as it relates to Accounting/Finance. Assist all divisions within the region with current and accurate information presentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Provide financial analysis or special project assistance as directed by the Region COO or Region CFO
• Establish and maintain strong relations with division accounting personnel
• Monitor division performance in key metrics (sales, starts, closings, backlog, gross profit, SG&A spending, ROI, inventory turn) vs. budget and prior year
• Review proposed land acquisitions and monitor actual performance and integration with plan
• Compile region short and long-term plans and assess versus company goal
• Help divisions ensure accuracy and completeness of control documentation, specifically relating to Sarbanes-Oxley and internal audit requirement
• Help divisions comply with all corporate policies and procedure
• Act as liaison with DHI Financial Services to ensure effective partnering
• Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
• Ability to travel overnight
• Review and ensure data accuracy for monthly financial statement
• Participate in preparing annual budget and update
• Regular and reliable attendance
• Additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field from a four-year college or university
- Minimum of four years of related experience and/or training
- Understanding and ability to adhere to General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Solid understanding of financial statements and internal controls
- Analytical and organizational skills coupled with the ability to multitask effectively without compromising the quality of work
- Knowledge in Budgeting and Financial Management
- Excellent collaboration and time management skills
- Ability to focus under pressure and comfortable meeting tight deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Possess exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate and work with all levels of management and personnel
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
- Proficiency with MS Office and email
- Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision
- The noise level is generally moderate
- Ability to travel when needed (Within the following areas Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas)
Preferred Qualifications
- Accounting certification CPA/CMA preferred
- JD Edwards experience a plus
