Refinery Lab Technician

Summary:

We are looking for an independent, highly motivated, and safety-oriented candidate to join us as a Refinery Lab Technician. You may be right for this position if you are a career-oriented individual looking for your next position in a fulfilling position.

Position Description:

Responsible for quality control on Incoming and Outgoing Refinery Products. Our Lab Techs perform all test procedures on products in the refinery. Testing is conducted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Lab Tech shifts are 12 hours. The work schedule is 12 hour shifts while rotating 4 on 4 off (days/nights).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform various test procedures on products in the refinery.
• Perform data entry and data analysis.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment.
• Provides relief for lab personnel on vacation, in training or on sick leave.
• Assists lab personnel with daily duties as needed.
• Physical demands – Requires standing and walking throughout most of the day. Must be able to enter and work in plant environment, routinely carry 10-20 lbs. and periodically lift 30-40 lbs. Occasionally walking on uneven terrain.

Qualifications:

• Two years chemistry coursework at university level or a Chemical technician certificate from an accredited school. - Preferred
• Commensurate experience in a petroleum industry related lab may be accepted in lieu of the above academic requirements.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize work assignments.
• Strong communication skills are required with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and to speak effectively.
• Must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages and to apply concepts such as basic algebra and geometry.
