Job description

Position Description:

The Lab Quality Technician is a part of the Lab Quality Team and works closely with the both the internal laboratory team and the external third-party contract laboratories. They receive samples from the Quality Assurance Team and enter them into the applicable computer software programs. They are responsible for sending out samples to be tested and reviewing and entering lab results. They generate Certificates of Analysis based on Batch Production Records and lab results. This position repots to the Lab Quality Manager.

Essential responsibilities:

· Receive samples from Quality Assurance Team and enter them into appropriate software programs.

· Review product specification sheets for both finished product and raw materials to ensure required testing is assigned and completed for all samples.

· Assign correct testing for all samples and review submission paperwork for third-party laboratories.

· As results are completed by laboratories, review results for accuracy and if necessary, reach out to laboratories for review / additional testing.

· Follow up with laboratories for timely reporting of testing.

· Act as representative / intermediary to third-party laboratories.

· Generate Certificates of Analysis based on completed lab results for finished product lots.

· Maintain updated and accurate information for finished product lots throughout sampling / testing process.

Additional Responsibilities:

· Adhere strictly to company policies and procedures.

· Assisting in miscellaneous document review and storage requests and procedures as needed.

· Collecting retained product / sample for quality review.

· Electronic and physical document storage procedures.

· Review laboratory testing invoices to ensure accuracy in charges as well as confirm receipt of test results before invoices are approved.

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Competencies/skill Qualifications:

· Knowledge of GMPs and experience with nutraceuticals

· Competency in basic computer programs and must be able to use Microsoft applications.

· Must demonstrate exceptional written and communication skills

· Ability to follow instructions / directions.

· Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

· Attention to details.

· Ability to prioritize and complete assigned tasks effectively and efficiently.

· Able to make decisions based on company guidelines. Exceptional organizational, multi-tasking and time-management skills are required.

· Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment and maintain effectiveness during times of major changes in responsibilities.

· Demonstrate integrity and willingness to take personal responsibility for performance.

· Knowledge of Dietary Supplement GMPs preferred.

· Experience in dietary supplement industry preferred.

· Auditing experience preferred but not required.

· Experience enforcing SOP and product specifications preferred.

· Proficiency with all MS Office Suite programs – excel experience required.

· Strong mathematics skills required.

· English proficiency required.

Physical Requirements:

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use of hands and fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; converse and listen; taste or smell.

· Employee must exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

· May be exposed to a dusty environment and/or considerable noise.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $14.00 - $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
